The Ivan Relief committee continues to meet once a week. Thanks to the matching funds received from the United Way of Jamaica in conjunction with the National Commercial Bank of Jamaica, we are able to continue to assist people with aid.

A few weeks ago letters were sent out to the pastors of 9 area churches asking them to inform us of anyone in their area who would qualify for aid. This led to 100 additional coupons totaling $835,000 JA or $13,916 US to be distributed in the greater Treasure Beach area. These coupons were for local hardware stores where individuals could redeem them for hardware supplies helping to rebuild their homes.

In total, 251 coupons to hardware stores have been distributed to individuals totaling $2,177,000 JA or $36,283 US.

$4,500 US was spent on relief to farmers in the form of coupons to farm stores and seed and fertilizer purchases.

$13,500 US was spent on relief to fishermen with fishpot wire, and rope purchases allowing a long-term relief fund to be set up for the fishermen utilizing the program.

The beach clean-up efforts are almost complete with a bit more work to be done in Great Bay. Extensive clean-up work has been done on the beaches of Billy's Bay, Frenchman's Bay, Calabash Bay, Old Wharf, and Great Bay totalling just under $6,000 US.

$5,000 US was put into the ambulance fund to assure it's continued operation and $3,000 US was given to the building fund for the Treasure Beach Women's Group as this project like the ambulance will benefit the whole community.

We are still working on making Sandy Bank School a proper emergency shelter by purchasing a generator, satelite phone, and securing a proper clean water storage supply.

We must always, once again, thank all of you who donated towards the relief effort making all this possible!
