Before the sun came up on Sunday morning, the Treasure Beach community woke to the voices of 18 women singing along to gospel music blaring out of a traveling sound system.



The Treasure Beach Women’s Group held a
Walkathon on the 13th to raise funds to complete the new community center. President Jeanne Genus said, "The Walkathon was the perfect event to keep our fundraising alive. The building is almost complete and we still have many expenses to cover."

The morning route started at King Fisher Plaza, went along the main road to Billy’s Bay and returned to King Fisher Plaza to complete the five miles in just under two hours.

Alida Ebanks was awarded a heart-shaped box of chocolates for raising the most funds. Other top fundraisers were Jeanne Genus, Dawn Moxam and Vivette Taylor.



A "heart felt" thank you goes out to all of you who have generously supported the rebuilding efforts of The Treasure Beach Women’s Group. The building is slated to be completed in June.
