Will be visiting the last week of March. Does anyone who might have stayed at Sunset Resort before have any photos of their Villa called "Sunset Dream"? If not, any input would be appreciated. It looks like their resort is about perfect - close to the center of everything, with pool, nice restaurant, etc. I was thinking the separate villa would be nice, as it would provide a little more privacy than the main building. If anyone has input they would rather email, my address is: kchristopher@alltel.net. Thanks!

I stayed in that villa with some friends a few years ago. It does indeed provide much more privacy. It feels like a private house. The patio is lovely.

I am familiar with Sunset Resort and yes it is very central and has a very clean pool and a decent restaurant. However, the resort completely lacks character or charm and the decor leaves much to be desired. If you are thinking about renting the private villa, you would be better off renting a 'true' villa in the area for about the same price. There are many to choose from which are also centrally located and has all the things you are looking for. Just check the 'Where to Stay' section and look for Calabash Bay or Frenchman's. All in all, I would rate Sunset as adequate.

Not to start any flame wars but in 21 visits to Jamaica, Sunset Resort was the most comfortable place I've ever stayed at. It is a short walk to just about anywhere in Treasure Beach's Calabash or Frenchman's Bays. I have 4 friends that will be there in 9 days. Everyone has different criteria as to what makes a place so I can't guarantee you'll love it, but I do.

Food at the restaurante is superb, just make sure you order early in the day (the day before for breakfast). My son was more comfortable here with air conditioning and a pool than another place we stayed that had more "character". The beach is almost right there, it is a very easy walk to the shops and restaurantes, and I loved the view of the ocean and the sunsets. For atmosphere, walk into Jakes (right next door) for a drink at the oceanside bar or dinner on Jakes patio. I agree that I have seen better decor than Sunset, but the rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable and the showers hot, so who cares?

I stayed in Sunset Dream a few years back with some friends and really enjoyed the villa. It has it's own patio facing the ocean. the beach is accessed from the opposite side of the resort (steps lead right to the beach). It also has a kitchen which we only used for mixing cocktails but it is an added convenience.
