It looks like someone else got taken care of so I'll post my needs as well. My wife and I and our six year old daughter are planning to come the Treasure Beach area. Do you have recommendations? Our daughter is a great swimmer and likes having other kids to play with if that helps.

Thanks, Mark

Both Billy's Bay and Great Bay are often considered the better beaches/swimming areas, the latter bay where many locals teach their kids how to swim. There are generally lots of local kids around, if they're not already in school -- or your villa or guesthouse manager can surely find some for your daughter to hang with, swim, bike, etc. COQUINA in Great Bay might be a good choice. Friends recently rented it with their two boys, 4 and 6, who were thoroughly mesmerized by
the gardens, the beach and the water, as well as the staff.

The 2 places I've stayed in TB are Irie Rest (in Billy's Bay) and Vikings House (in Great Bay). Both places welcome families & children and have lots of pickney around to play with kids from a farin. Both places are clean, comfortable & an excellent deal for the $.

Viking's House still has one room within our home available for guests. ( This room can sleep 1-3 guests).

As Viking and family are now back in Jamaica full time, we have added 3 new additional guest rooms seperate from the the main house.

Our new rooms all feature private bathrooms, private verandahs and private in room kitchen facilities (including sink, fridge, electric stove, microwaves and coffee pots). Our rooms also feature tiled floors, ceiling fans, screened windows and both 110 and 220 outlets so that guests will have no trouble operating their personal appliances.

We have a second story lookout (third story lookout soon finished) which has amazing views of the ponds, mountains, bluff and sea.

The first of the new rooms which will be available beginning Feb. 11th can sleep between 1-5 guests, it was designed specifically with groups and families in mind.

A full sized bed as well as a full sized futon are standard, single bed may be added if 5 guests are to be accomodated. This "family room" also features a very large bathroom with tub as well as shower. There is a large 10x20' private verandah facing the sea with this room, and it is located on the first floor. (The other new rooms are second story rooms).

Previous guests can attest to the fact that Viking's as with all the other Genus family properties are ideal for families with children as we are located well off the main road in an area where all the houses and guest houses in a row are part of our family. Plenty of kids to play with in the area, including our own, aged 2, 5 and 8.

We also offer affordable meals (including a children's menu reflecting some traditional US type fare- convenient if your kids are finicky eaters) for those who don't wish to cook for themselves.

On site gear rentals including mountain bikes, kayaks, glass bottom raft, boogie boards, children's and adult's life jackets. (Discounted for our guests- free delivery for guests of any other property in Treasure Beach)

The new Viking's House has alot more to offer- internet access, laundry service and much more/ In addition, having the owners on site tending to your needs helps insure that a hassle free and enjoyable vacation will be no problem!

Our website www.ItalJamaica.com has yet to reflect the changes to the property. However, anyone interested in details regarding amenities, menus, pricing, etc may email me for a text version of what will soon be online.

Best of luck to Viking & Stephanie. I enjoyed my 2 stays at Viking's House. I'm looking forward to seeing photos of the new rooms.

As the sea can be somewhat tempermental in all areas of Treasure beach, you may want to consider somewhere with a pool, such as Lyric. We are on the beach and a two...maybe three minute walk to Jakes and Jack Spratt if you want a little outing. Although Polly will prepare such splendid meals for you that you won't want to leave, you may occasionally want to take a walk around the area. You can visit our site on the where to stay section of treasurebeach.net and contact us directly at lyricjamaica@rogers.com
