I just got back from Treasure Beach. What amazing progress you have made since Ivan! The beaches look good and the swimming was wonderful (although there are a few spots that used to be beach and now are rock). Buildings are fixed up. Businesses are open. Plans to replant trees are underway.

And, as always, the hospitality of Treasure Beach remains remarkable, maybe even better. Everyone I spoke with said they realize that people are more important than the things that were lost. The open friendliness and consideration show that these thoughts are more than just words.

I especially want to thank the Women's Group for inviting me to join the Kwanza celebration. Treasure Beach provides examples of all the Kwanza values of unity, self-determination, collective work & responsibility, co-operative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith. This coming year I will keep this example of a community to give me hope.
