The United States Coast Guard is here in Treasure Beach conducting training for TBERU volunteers and local fishermen interested in being part of a "search and rescue" team. Due to at least one fishing boat going missing each year, we feel this is a step toward making our community and fishing village a safer one.
Training took place yesterday at Jack Sprat from 11-3 and 18 volunteers were present. Training will occur the same time today.
JASAR is a combination of efforts of Breds, TBERU, local fishermen, the United States and Jamaican Coast Guards and the Jamaican Defense Force.
