Thanks to Robert Johnson of Karibu Cottage for organizing what sounds to be a great party to benefit Treasure Beach hurricane victims. Thanks, also, to all the friends of Treasure Beach who are pitching in with donations for raffle prizes, etc.

I've been to The Western Front a few times and sure wish I could join all of you there!

OK, maybe this is a dorky idea, but...

If a lot of people are going to be at the fundraiser who only have met online here, what if you wore something distinctive so you could easily recognize each other?

As to what that 'distinctive' thing would be...no clue. Anyone???

PS: I'd love to come, but a few thousand miles separates me from the festivities. Enjoy a rum for me!

Hello Rebecca,

I see all the good that is taking place in treasure beach but, there are some homes in the area that could use help but because some of the owners passed away last year and the year before no one visited to see if help was needed even though People still live in some of those homes and some of the residents are in their 80s or little younger.I know if i was on your committee i sure would go up the hills and down the valleys right there in TB to check these homes out.I know if these folks were alive they would be the first to help others in the community because that was the way they lived all their lives GIVING , GIVING to those that were in need.
You people in TB know right off the bat whom these people were I,m talking about..
Not angry but, just had to get it off my chest maybe because I myself I'm a giver always thiking of others saying what can i do for someone today to make their lives or their children lives better.

GOD BLESS AND KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK YOUR REWARD WILL BE PLENTIFUL.

Congratulations go out to the Boston Posse for the success of their fundraiser held on Sunday. I understand they have raised $6,500 US so far and the checks are still coming in!

Special thanks go out to Robert Johnson, owner of Karibu Cottage, for all your efforts in putting this fund raiser together. I understand the Western Front donated the use of the club, the artists donated their time and someone else donated the food. Robert, we would love to hear more details on the event, so please let us know.

We are also thrilled with how this group has decided to use their funds. A good portion of this funding is being used to support Treasure Beach residents who are suffering from substance abuse to attend a rehabilitation program being held in various parts of the island.

Robert Johnson has set up this program working with Treasure Beach residents, including Pastor Campbell of the Calvery Church of God, to identify those in need of this program., approach them, and offer assistance. So far it has been a huge success. We wish them continued success in a very important effort to positively influence persons lives.

The fundraiser on November 7th was great. The music, food and place were donated by local people who wanted to help. The money will be sent to Treasure Beach Foundation and Calvary Church of God for zinc, mesh wire, food, school lunches and expenses. A separate donation for drug treatment will be sent to Calvary.
