Rec'd at TB.net today from LadyG...

"Hi Eric

Further to my email of 14 Sept re contacting organisations such as Money Gram requesting they waive the transfer fee for monies being sent down to JA.

I have contacted both Money Gram and Western Union offices here in the UK, and have to state that I've been far from impressed with their responses thus far!!!!

The lady I spoke to from Western Union definitely had a degree in unhelpfulness and quite categorically told me that they would not waive the fees - (in other words "Naff Off"!!!.

The lady I spoke to at Money Gram was definitely more friendly, took my name and number, said she would look into the matter and then get back to me - I haven't heard anything yet, but I also have her name and number so I can give her another call.

I have also contacted a couple of shipping agency with a view to sending down some containers of non-perishable supplies, clothes, books etc.
The actual prices they are quoting to me for the transportation is astronomical - In fact the actual transportation fees could end up working out to be as much as/more than the value of the goods I am sending!!

Could you please post a message on the site stating my findings and ask for others also located in the UK to advise if they have received this same type of result.

Regards

(LadyG)"

Senvia.com has adjusted their fees which are already low as well----$7 on $2,500 if you live in a city where you can purchase a TreasureCard (not affiliated with Treasure Beach), or 2% if you do it from a Bank Account, or 3% from a credit card. You can enter the receiver names of different receivers you want to send to. Receivers can pick up at NCB Bank branches in Black River, Mandeville, and other locations. You can send from the US, UK, and Canada to Jamaica, Guyana, Grenada, Trinadad and Tobago.

Have just checked the Senvia details for transferring money here in the UK - The service can only be used by holders of a Barclays Bank current account - I'm not having much luck here in the UK - Think I'm just going to have use Money Gram and pay the transfer fee, (though I begrudge them the money as they haven't a charitable 'bone' in their organisation).
