Just got off the phone with her. Overall, more good news.

Masive big up to Judy of Doubloon for charging her cell phone so she can keep getting the word out from down there.

There are several guest houses/villas that will soon be ready for visitors. Hold off until the water comes back. We'll give reports on which places are open in the coming days

JPSCo has delievered light poles to the area today, but have not installed them yet. Rebecca gave each of the workers a bottle of water...ain't she great!

They are getting newspapers in the area and all radio stations are back up, but they of course need batteries or car steroes to listen to them. So they are getting connected with the world again.

Unconfirmed reports say a plane has spotted the Ocean Queen (maybe not the right name) which people here have asked about. No reports on how the crew are.

A Relief Team has been set up thorugh Breds/TBNet/Treasure Beach Women's Group/community members. Details:
They'll meet every day at 9am to discuss immediate and long term needs.
Two people from the team are assigned to each district to assess their needs.

They are trying to get another water taker truck to the area tonight/tomorrow. There are only 14 trucks for all of St. Elizabeth and they have to fill up at Alpart.
BUT several residents and villas have good supplies in catchment and are sharing generously.

Belmont has phone lines, so she is trying to get there tomorrow and send me some pictures, which I'll post ASAP

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF CWJAMAICA's internet service is functioning anywhere on the island?

The one bad piece of news:
We are sad to report the death of Mr. Blair Hamiton, 74, of Sandy Bank. The cause of death is unknown, but a stroke or heart attack is suspected.

And the best news for me:
She is finally able to get up to Munro/Postdam area and check on my crew at Buzz's HQ. I am expecting a phone call any minute to hear how my great, great friends up there are.

More soon.

More info from Munro / Potsdam area:

No deaths, though there is a report of an elderly gentleman in Belview area who died during the storm. No name yet.

In Munro/Potsdam area, the damage is as bas at in TB. Most trees down, lots of roofs gone.

Epping Forest All Age had its roof blown off, as did most schools in the area.

Buzz is proudly reporting that his HQ is one of the few building that has no damage and survived the storm with only a couple of trees down. But alas, no cold beer to be had. When I told him I wouldn't come down until he could promise refrigeration, he told me to send a generator! :-)

Specifically, Carl 'Buzz' Benjamin, Ann Powell and their two kids Jerry and Daniel (who somehow bears a striking resemblance to me ;-) are safe and sound, though shaken up. Boy, was it good to hear their voices.

One report of injury. While cleaning the debris, Mrs. Judy Harle of Munro College damaged her hand today. Not sure how severe. The Harle's lost their roof

Munro College is damaged, but already has donations from Old Boys totaling JA$5 million for reconstruction.

And the Munro College windmill, which I actually used to manage, is still standing. Talk about a good commercial for Vestas, the manufacturer!

Chris: thanks for the update on CWJ.

Are people able to access the internet via CWJ, or is it just their web site that's working?

CWJ
Good point! I am accessing CWJ via my company server. I will try from home tonight, unless somebody can do that before me.
Chris.

CWJ Access

I called Lesley who has accessed the internet via CWJ from our home in Kingston. Note though that no significant disruption in telecomms took place in our area (also got power back 18hours ago, no water though!).
Cheers,
Chris

New Topic, Eric ...
+++++++++++++++++++++++++

Floyd's Pelican Bar ...

... is, sadly, gone. My husband, Peter, actually just spoke to him and extended our best wishes.
We were at Floyd's right after Charley, and he didn't lose even a piece of thatch though that blow. Ivan, however, was too much for even the amazing Pelican Bar.
He told Peter he "wants to come back."
Let's all hope he does!

Great news: We were able to reach Mr. and Mrs. Cole. They are both fine and their house has recieved very little damage but it sounds like a lot of the southfield Belview area has a great deal of damage. I do have some good news the phones are on in the area so if you have a loved one in the area give it a try. Thank you everyone for all the info and updates it has been a life saver. Kathy Cole

Hello Treasure beach,

just wanted to know if anybody out there knows any web site for Balacava or Armstrong in St. Elizabeth I'm trying to locate my mum's family by the names of McLeish or Demitiris, my mother is very concerned of her uncle Doc or aunt Ena.

My mothers name is Gloria Moxam - (maiden name is Mcleish or her pet name is Toostie)

I would be very grateful if anybody knows of them or any web site.

Whilst writing I've heard that Uncle Noel Hamilton had passed away, could anyone let me know when his funeral is, so that I can forward on the details to my father - Carvel Moxam.

I'm so happy to hear that everbody in the community is all helping one way or another because at a time like this we all need each other

God Bless you all

Lots of hope and love

Valerie Moxam xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hello old friend,
I am grateful that no one was killed or hurt that we know of a direct result of the hurricane. I’m so sick about the men in the Keys and continue to pray.
I HAVE GOOD NEWS!
I am so happy to report that I have been raising money from my community in Northern Virginia and I’m up to $4000.00 so far. I’m sending the funds directly to Garfield and Suzie and they will disperse the funding to those MOST in need…buy food, water, whatever is needed most first.
I’ve thought of you many times and miss TB and everyone there. I’m still collecting money and have many boxes of clothing to ship next week. Might I be able to send the clothing and other dry goods to the airport in your name? Do people need clothing? I have a lot!!!
I want to come down and help to clean up and bring more goodies. I know there is no power but I think Mary’s bringing a generator for the Buccaneer.
How are you holding up? May I help you in ANY way Rebecca?
I know you must be very busy but, how is TransLove? i hear Jake's is in bad shape...so very sorry. Is Preacher OK...send my love.
God Bless, cool running and prayers for a speedy recovery.
Love,
Scarlet Gleeson
