The news is still mostly good:

The situation is starting to take its toll on people, but they are still strong and helping each other.

There are three people in hospital, one woman with family in Cayman collapsed, one who injured himself cleaning up, and another with no details. THANK GOD for the TBERU Ambulance. In fact, I heard its siren carrying the gentleman to Mandeville in the background when I talked to her.

See another post here asking for you to collect and post any info on the Caymans so we can get it down to them. Sadly, I doubt the news will be good from initial reports.

I'm hesitant to post this since it is NOT CONFIRMED, but she said she heard that fishermen from Rocky Point went out the the keys and report all the fishermen are OK. The Jamaica Observer is reporting that the JDF went out last night and didn't find anything and will go out again today. Keep up your hopes!

Water starting to get short. The tanker truck has not arrived yet.
Of the 300 cases of Wata from Wysinco which did arrive, some went to Parrotee which is hard hit, 50 cases went to the Black River hospital which has no water (can you imagine!), and the rest is being distributed by Norma Moxam the (not new) principal of sandy Bank Primary. Man I love that woman.

HOWEVER, those with water catchment supplies are sharing generously.

Jason was on the phone with either the Ambassador or a representative from USAID who said that there are two planes of relief supplies on its way to Jamaica. Jason told them "You know, Treasure Beach through TBNEt, TB Foundation, and Breds efforts and many others are taking care of itsself. Send those supplies to other areas of the country that don't have as much rivate assitance." Which means we've got to keep our private efforts up!

The residents are very aware of all the prayers and support we're giving them and it is a major boost to their spirits.
When Rebecca goes around to tell them of our support, the people are breaking down with tears of joy. They're all telling her "to take pictures of this and that and post them on this web site" and "tell the TBNet visitors to keep praying for us"

I don't have much time to write this, but hearing her say that takes me back to 1999 when she and I sat in her house and first started to plan what this web site would be all about. We both said it has to be of benefit for the community or we wouldn't do it. well, I guess we're fulfilling that goal now. When I reminded her of that, I broke down with tears of joy...but in a very manly way :-)

To close, we want to thank Lisa Ginzell for giving TBNet a whole heap of money to cover our costs for phone calls, gas for the bus, etc. Thanks Lisa! Her donation to us means that we can keep going on and that all of YOU can donate to the relief fund for the residents.

Thank you Jason for thinking of the worst hit areas. When I made a small donation, it was with the thought that the big agencies can concentrate on the gretest needs, and we can do our part by giving here, since we know where the money goes.

All TB folk and friends,

I am so glad to hear that the storm went through without laying the lick it might have, although roofs off and roads and fields flooded are bad enough. Big up JAS - for being there as usual and also for letting the world know that the folks down in TB, once we check on our own, we still, we always, strong enough to think next of others worse off.

Your friends up in the states (and you have many)will see what we can do.

One Love,

Jim Curl

Hello! I'm still wondering how Miss Joyce and Miss Suzie from Villa Hikaru are doing. Also, was there damage to Hikaru, and what about Floyd at the Pelican Bar? Thanks for your help!

Hally

Ya wanna hear sme REAL GOOD NEWS?

All the people on the keys have been found and returned to the island SAFE AND SOUND!

Skibo is now in the back of a truck that is cruising all of Treasure Beach with its horn honking to let everyone know of his safe return.

Rebecca says this really lifted everyone's spirits down there! And I told her it would do the same for us up here.

They rode out the storm on the top of the roofs! Afterwards, they built one big house as long as the plaza from all the remnants of the previous buildings.

HI REBECCA,

CAN YOU FIND OUT IF THE FAMOUS VERY OLD BUTTON WOOD TREE AT FRENCHMAN SURVIVED THE HURRICANE.THAT TREE HAS TO BE THE OLDEST TREE IN TB.

ALSO A LITTLE HOUSE RIGHT BESIDE IT MY GREAT ANCESTORS BUILT THAT HOUSE OVER ONE HUNDRED YEARS AGO.TO ME AND MY SISTERS THIS MEANS ALOT BECAUSE ONE OF US WERE BORN THERE.

THANKS REBECCA

Glad to hear that Rebecca, Dawn and Jocelyn are safe. However, we are upset to hear that Calabash House was damaged. Hopefully it can be repaired. We had the priviledge of staying there for a few days in July and had a wonderful time. We send our best wishes and look forward to staying there again.

Also, sorry to hear about Jakes. Hope that the Henzell family are finding the strength to cope.

Frank Knight, Carol Masters and family
