Hi all,
I'm in the beginning stages of planning a trip to Jamaica for next year and wanted a bit of advice.
I owe my wife a bit of tourist holiday, sitting on a beach for a few days, drinking rum enjoying the sun.
But I am more interested in seeing the sights and exploring the history.
Any recommended things to see?
Also, I have done extensive research into my family tree, particularly the Parchments and Deleons.
A few places that my family lived in the 1800's and before include Pedro Plains, Tresure beach, malvern, and by the black river.
Is there any history centre or public office with records of people that I could go to find out more?
Or would people in the towns be able to recal their towns entire history?
Thanks
Jon
Hey JonD. Your trip sounds like it will be very interesting. I would very much recommend the The Way Back When Tour in Black River. Allison Morris has a wealth of knowledge of Black River and the area and may very well know your family.
There are many folks in town who know the history well. I would recommend you just ask around, meet some of your family and ask them.
Have fun!
