Rebecca Update #2

Treasure Beach Forum: TB Runnin's: Rebecca Update #2
Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By TBNet on Monday, September 13, 2004 - 10:53 am: Edit Post

I just got off the phone with Rebecca and talked for about 20 minutes until her battery died or maybe the phone card ran out, not sure.

The best news:
They have found Moses's boat near Cuba! It is not confirmed, but initial reports are that all the fishermen that stayed on the Keys are OK! Agin, this is not confirmed. When it is, we'll post it here.

Still no reports of dead for all of TB! Or even injuries, for that matter

All roads are passable, but not easily.

She thinks the food situation will be OK as they can slowly get supplies from the rest of the island. She is worried about clean potable water though.

There is no sand left on the beaches! Its down to bedrock almost everywhere.

She and Jason, etc are meeting today about the donation situation. Hope to have a paypal account for electronic transfers today. There are already donations being accepted via check here:

She has told everyone down there about the of your giving your prayers and thoughts for them. Its really lifting their spirits. Keep it up.

I asked about most people that have been mentioned here. They are all OK. I'm going to give rebecca's parents a call, then post specifics on the people Rebecca told me about.

Hello Eric, Rebecca everyone at TB-

I want to return to TB to help with the rebuild.

When will this make sense? Is it better to send money for now and wait until a rebuild plan is in place?

Please Advise

Any word on Floyd at the Pelican Bar???
Beth from the Peace Core ???

While I was visiting in Feb. a new school was dedicated. Can anyone tell me what kind of shape it's in now? Also, I had the pleasure of meeting Norma, the principal, and her husband but can't remember their last name. Does anyone know how they are?
I want very much to come down and help with the relief effort but can't take the time off from my job. I'll be sending a donation as soon as the PayPal is set up.

Has anybody hears from Charlie? He sells wood carvings just down the road from Jakes. And Guilty?

Relieved to hear that, though material damage is great, lives are spared. I hope it continues to be the case. I'm much distressed to hear of all the destruction. Glad to find links for financial aid. I've been wondering about Floyd at the Pelican Bar since news of the storm hit. Any word? was he part of the group anchored on the key?

Glad you're okay, Rebecca - your help this spring was invaluable.

One love

Hi Everyone - Prayers go out to all of Jamaica and all the families waiting for information.

I am Johnny and Carrie Forrest's and Gladstone and Lucille Ford's granddaughter (Treasure Beach - Great Bay).

We have not been able to speak to anyone - only news from others.

Has anyone heard if Johnny Forrest is safe? We heard rumours that something happened to him and are desperately hoping that they are not true.

Please any word on them would be greatly appreciated.

I spoke the USCG [US Coast Guard] this morning and Ocean Queen was last charted at 1935/7854. USCG contacted the JDF and helecopters were reportedly sent for search and rescue. Miss Ritta made contact via GSM and reported they were sinking and needed a pump.

Presumably, two ships went out- one towing the other that had mechanical problems. Nothing to confirm at this moment about wellness Moses and his crew, but those are the facts above.

If anyone has any information on Moses' second ship Ocean Queen that was being captained by Preckeh (Hersley Moxam) please contact me as soon as possible with your phone number via email or AIM: BrackishFate, and I will call you back.

Lets all now just pray for Preckeh and his crew on the Ocean Queen that are still missing. And not just our fellow Treasure Beachites but also those fallen in this catastrophe.

The info I have is that right now money is the best thing to send. Flights are arriving to the island, the roads are apparantly passable, so they can buy what they need rather than needing it shipped.

And speaking of the link for the donations...http://treasurebeach.net/guide/ivan/ivanrelief.html

Hi,

Lisa would really like to know if South Jammin' still has a roof on?

When I read about the 200 additional nails that helped a roof stay on in Billy's Bay I started to think of an easy to install and reasonable possibility to prevent from flying roofs ... once they are back on.

It was so shocking to see on the satellite photo this huge thing right on top of sweet Jamaica. Now, with all the good news from the Tb area it is some relief especially to hear about beloved friends. Rebecca, thank you indeed.

Hi does anyone have news on the Trenchfield family. Most of them live in Sandy Bank. My uncles; Ken, Butter, Mervil, Carlton are fishermen in the area and I haven't had any news.
Also the Gordons from Calabash Bay.

When I tuned in to the hurricane's path on television I couldn't believe my eyes. To see the eye veer to the south was a prayer answered. One can only wonder what devastation might have incurred if it hadn't. My thoughts and best wishes are with you all and I'm so grateful that lives were spared. Keep the faith, my friends.

One love,

Dear Eric & Rebecca

Thank you very much for all of the work that you are doing. Just to let you know we have now had a brief telephone call from our father, Leaford Trenchfield at Pedro Cross and he is fine. His house also stood up very well. We are still unable to contact him from here, but will keep trying, as soon as we get any more information I will post it in case it helps anyone else out there.

My Dear Friend Rebecca
I'm so so glad reading thru this wonderfull web site you are safe after such a terrible scaring time. Thank you very much Eric for all the info you gave us via Rebecca phone calls.
I still cannot beleive that IVAN came on Jamaica for the 11th of September ... I was in panic here in Paris and felt like I'm nothing if someone is touching one more of my best friend. Cannot find my words to tell you that for me and I'm sure for many people you are an amazing strong woman and a great member of the community of Treasure Beach. Remember I love you. I sent you and e-mail when I get back last friday from a trip of 2 weeks in Morroco. I'm ok.
On the forum I read the news about Berry's house and I give the info to Michele in England.
Rebecca I'm sending you all my love, kisses and support and more if I could be there with you and Lisa and of course to all person in needing at the moment. I would love to be with you right now and squeeze you with my little arms against my heart!
Much love and all my thoughts are with you and TB.
Take good care of yourself my friend and see you soon.
Sylvie

We were gone a day and glad to be back for news.
Is there any news from Pedro Plains? We echo concerns for the Henrys, Millingtons, Hazel Ebanks and family.

Was the Miss Ruby who lost her roof Ruby Lee or another Ruby? Our first thought was Ruby Lee.

Thanks again for your help.

Dear Angela Roberts (fomerly Hill).
I just read Tojo your message over the telephone (he called me at 8:30 p.m.)...he says your mother is O.K. All of your uncles , including George are fine. Your brother Mal Hill is fine and Nerissa Hill is also alright.
I often speak with Miriam in Brooklyn (at least once per week), she is alright and Janine is still in Jamaica (she rode out the storm with her daddy). They are all o.k.
I'm really glad I could help.
Lahomie in England has my phone number.
Call anytime!

Dear Rebecca and all the wonderful, brave citizens of Treasure Beach:

So wonderful to read the postings and learn that aside from property damage, all are safe. Since I will be down in Nov with my entire family and perhaps no place to stay, maybe we can help with rebuilding??? Keep me posted _ I will load my suitcase with whatever I can bring that will be needed at that time.

Hi My Dear Rebecca,

I spoke with Celeste and David last night...was going to do everything I could to get through...and it worked. They are so in awe of your efforts..(along with Eric) in communicating with all of us...the family, friends,(old and new), and neighbors. Celeste was of course concerned about you and your stamina...just knowing that you're giving it your all...and not resting. They hope to see you soon..."Stay strong." They are in a big need of candles...if you come across any...as we are trying to help in that area...but it might take days, if not weeks. Celeste said please let Bonnie and David (Professors at Union College) know that they're okay, and will be in touch when they can. They hope to be in better shape for their visit in December. The damage could be worse..but their hopes are high...they are not discouraged. Tell them that Quest is okay too, please. We are all praying for them. Aubrey...(Lucia's husband)...found in Cayman, but all belongings lost...car and house. So many lost their lives also. TB's Women's Group will get together and plan strategy to help community. One Love.
