Hello everyone,
I just spoke with my father, Denny Soares and here is some news on Southfield. The Soares Bakery and Mikey's home was okay. Rightway and the home behind it was okay. Bethel Gospel and the Southfield 7th Day Adventist Churches lost their roofs. Light posts are down and many people have lost their roofs or have structural damage to their homes. What trees that are still standing are bare, even of their leaves. All the workers from the Soares Bakery are also okay. There are some areas of Southfield that they know nothing about like the back part of Queensberry. Some of the roads ae being cleared, but there is alot of debris all over. I hope that this news will help. As I get news I will update this site, so please check back. AGain a special thanks to Mrs. Allison Hill and her husband Mr. Tojo Hill. Also to TBnet and Rebecca, words can't express the gratitude that I have for both of you. I hope that when I come to Jamaica again I will finally meet Rebecca. My cousin is Karla Parchment who is part owner of Cocona. If you see her, please give her my love. Take care everyone.
Marlene Soares

Dear Rebecca,
I am inclined to call you the Mayor of treasure Beach. You are a beacon of this town and we wish to express our gratitude to you for all the work and kindness you do for the people there. Thank you so much.

Is it possible for you to get a message to Jerome
(the shop-keeper up the hill from T/B. Please tell her we got her phone message last night on the recorder-Sorry we were not home to talk to her. What other info can we get about "Fairhill Villas"? And how it did fare the storm. What about Dalton at the roadside near Fairhill. How is his house and his family ? Also the road from the Mobay airport to T/B? Anything we can do to help, please advise. Thank you so much and God bless you.

I got through again today and here's an update on Southfield and surrounding areas. Dean Parchment lost his roof on his home, but Aunt Merl's home was okay. Uncle Dalton Ebanks had some damage, but its not too bad. Aunt Jule Gayle, who lives in the PowellTown area, lost her roof, but Uncle Dimple her brother's house was okay. Mas Arnold Stevenson and his son, Ian, both lost their roofs. Hampton high and Bethel are both in extremely bad shape. Reports say that The roof of Hampton was actually found in the roadway. The structural damage of both schools are bad. Munro College and Steths also are badly damaged, but no where near as Hampton or Bethel. My father, Denny Soares said that the older homes held up better than the newer homes. The Soares Bakery had no damage and as I write, they are baking hand buns. Reports about the homes are very similar to what is being reported from Treasure Beach, with alot of homes being damaged. There have been no deaths and everyone is okay and some people are already trying to rebuild what they can right now. Parchment Hardware had some zinc, but I don't know how long it will last. Lorin Gayle's home was damaged. The Supermarket in the square (formerly Gayle's Supermarket has damage to the front. I hope this helps as we only had a short time to speak. I will update this site as I go along. THere is also news from here in Miami, that Sonia Bromfield has been arrested for shooting and killing her husband who was a police officer in Ft. Lauderdale. There is also another tropical storm out there which seems to have its sights on the lower eastern part of Florida. Ivan is still going strong, as a matter of fact in Miami, we are feeling the effects from its outer fringes. Latest news report is that Ivan is weakening, and its eye wall is starting to collapse, but a new eye is forming. winds are down to 140mph.
