For those who want to donate money, non perishable items etc., you can contact the Jamaican Embassy in Washington DC (details at www.emjamusa.org, the Consulate in New York (www.congenjamaica-ny.org) or the Consulate in Miami (their website addy has slipped my mind). For the folks at Bellevue/NYU, please try to call Janet Madden at the NY Consulate as she is the Community Relations Officer and has been arranging for doctors from UPenn and a few other health organizations in New York to travel to Jamaica. Her number is 212 935 7505. Two funds have been set up for those who wish to contribute cash to the effort. See emjamusa.org for details.I also believe that the NY Consulate will begin to air freight goods to Jamaica on a few of the Air J planes which were grounded in this area as early as Tuesday.
Thanks for such thorough information. We visit there alot and want to do our share.
Its been reported that any money sent through the JA Embassy will go into a general Jamaica fund. Tha's not a bad thing as lots of people need help on the island.
We are also setting up a fund specifically for helping TB and south St Bess. More soon.
I think donating specifically to TB is a great idea. I'd rather give my money directly to a local chair over the currupt politicians who abuse their powers ever so often.
As soon as the TB Fund is set up a link to it on the homepage would be very helpful Eric. Thank you.
I am sure there is International help on the way and maybe local goverment will help.
However, I agree, I would feel better knowing there was a website fund. I want the money I send to go to the community that I owe so much to.
They have gone out of their way to make us feel at home, now it is our turn.
