I've been saying for a long time that there is a disaster waiting to happen, with three boarding schools - Munro, Hampton and Bethlehem - situated in a relatively remote location, with the nearest fire station at least half an hour away.

Note in the story below that it took approximately 40 minutes for a fire truck (one of only two available to the parish at the moment) to get to Munro after the call went out on Friday morning.

Had this fire been at one of the old dormitories, or in that beautiful chapel, there would hardly have been anything left to save by the time the unit would have arrived. Not to mention the danger posed to hundreds of lives when the boarders are there at nights.

There needs to be a fire station, with a working fire truck, in Malvern/Potsdam to respond to such emergencies at these boarding schools.

With the many water tanks on the MC campus, and the thousands of acres of land own by the Munro and Dikenson trust in that area it would be easy if the money was available to put a Fire sation on the MC campus, infrastructure should not be an issue.

I couldnt agree with Mr Moxam anymore. Fire is how we have a new Dickenson building, and most recently we lost the original staff room to fire and even more recently there was a bush fire that destroyed the lush vegattion on the hill side of the campus.

I rememebr not being able to see from bottom field to the PC building because of the vegatation, now its a clear shot view after the destruction of the hill side.

can you all tell I am passiobnate MCOB.....

I can sense the passion, Rob! This is a very important matter. By the way, while I did not know the original Dickenson building, I suspect it was far more attractive than what replaced it:-) The replacement structure is a bit of an eyesore; utilitarian, no doubt, but does nothing for the aesthetic value of Munro. Let's hope we do not lose any more of the beautiful old buildings, whether to fire or any other disaster.

We mourn a man made building, as I do. Many the work of slaves.

While the creators miracle, trees, are cut and ignited with relish.
