Two Seasons Guest House on International Women's Day (IWD - March 8), recognizes the contribution of women around the world, and acknowledges that many women are still disempowered, without access and control of resources such as land, capital, and knowledge based on limited education.

According to UNFPA (http://www.unfpa.org/gender/empowerment.htm), about two thirds of the illiterate adults in the world are female, and more women than men live in poverty. As Kofi Annan, the former Secretary General of the United Nations said, 'It is impossible to realise our [developmental] goals while discriminating against half the human race'.

Professor Asha Kanwar, President and CEO of the Commonwealth of Learning, in her IWD message said that "Achieving gender equality is not just the responsibility of women alone. It must be the common concern for all humanity." (http://www.internationalwomensday.com/CommonwealthOfLearning#.UxtyU_ldUpA)

Let each of us do our part to work towards making "the world a better place for you and for me and the entire human race" (Michael Jackson, Heal the World).
