Hi there everyone. Lee Marshall here [from reggaeplus.net]. I just wanted to say hello to Lennie and all of the crew at Irie Rest. I also wanted to extend warm greetings to Vian and the Ashanti massive.

Our visit this past Dec./Jan. was truly wonderful. You folks in the TB area are blessed. Thanks for sharing...and caring.

Thanks for the note, Lee.

It reminded me to go hit your site, http://reggaeplus.net/, and listen to some great music.

I was remembering today...New Year's Eve, Lennie was pumping some water into his holding tank and he left out for celebrations...forgetting to turn the darned hose off. I was sitting on his upper balcony when all of a sudden water started pouring off the roof like it was some kind of torrential downpour. I thought that his tank had sprung a leak. [as I didn't realize that he was pumping the water.]

Mutabaruka was busing setting off his massive celebratory fire-works display and Lennie had said he might be going over by Bredda Muta's. I went running over there looking for him. Now THAT'S one heck of a climb up to Muta's home. The 'crisis' was quickly righted and I had the opportunity to reason with Mutabaruka and his lovely QUEEN for a few minutes.

Just another page in my mental scrapbook of ALL that is truly great about Jamaica, Jamaicans and Treasure Beach specifically.

I do hope that you pass on my "hellos". Both Lennie and Vian are people I hope to spend MORE TIME with. Until such time...

Blessed.

Hello ohliz. Seems like I'm not the only one who 'busts a move' around the net. Things are funny, yet good still.

Hi Reggae plus,

I must have missed you at Muta's, You're so right about that climb up to the house. I remember thinking how bringing up groceries everyday or anything else for that matter would be a great workout! It was the most memorable New Year's Eve I ever had or probably will.

Standing on the deck, with Muta shooting off fireworks from a Red Stripe bottle. Just him and me as everyone else had gone back inside for a few moments. It seemed so surreal.

When I got home, I told all of my friends. But to my great dissapointment, most of them are not into Jamaica as deeply as I am and they were not aware of Jamaica's greatest poet so few knew who he was or how truly special it was.

Needless to say, I played some of my favorite pieces for them and and now they say if he comes to Philly again, they will go with me to experience his words for themselves.

(Muta, if you are reading this, please come back to Philadelphia and bring your lovely lady with you.)

I hope that everyone is recovering from the horrible effects of charlie. I understand that most of the crops were lost, that homes were destroyed. I would imagine some boats took the brunt as well. Most of all I was sorry to hear about the loss of life.

But I am somewhat consoled by the fact that Jamaican people can and do rise above such devestation to trod on, stronger than ever. Walk good my brothers and sisters.

My positive thoughts are with each and EVERY one of you.
