No! to Port on Goat Island, Jamaica
On line petition to save Goat Island in Jamaica from development into a shipping Port & to urge the protection of the ecosystem surrounding the Goat Islands.
Keep this going, please,
I tried the link but it asked me to log in to facebook. What about those of us who don't have FB accounts?
I think you'd need to establish a Facebook account. Also, you then need to "like" their page in order to sign the petition. I agree it's not necessarily the most straightforward method, but it's better than nothing.
Here's a good article on why Jamaica should say no to the port on Goat Island: http://jamaica-gleaner.com/gleaner/20130904/news/news1.html

USA lease on Goat Island. From an article in the Daily Gleaner a few days ago, USA has a lease until 2039 on the Goat Island; so how can this project move forward without USA's involvement or permission? If this is a fact and the USA decides to step in, all this debate may be a waste of energy. Can anyone shed some light on this lease issue and is this being discussed in Jamaica?
I believe you can just sign here if you don't have FB: https://www.change.org/petitions/no-to-port-on-goat-island-jamaica-no-trans-ship ping-port-portland-bight-protected-area-jamaica
Ohliz, you are correct. This is a different petition, but it is a good one. Signing it and asking your friends to also sign it will certainly help the cause.
