We are seeing the remnants of Chantal. Last night I watched an incredible lightening show for quite a while. We did have about a 15 minute shower yesterday evening but no more rain until about 5 this morning when we got a good thunderstorm bringing winds and heavy rain.
That has subsided now, however, the skies are overcast and it looks like more rain is coming our way in just a few minutes.
Ah, we haven't had this much rain in a very very long time. It feels great and you can see the vegetation turning green. Of course, we don't want too much, but for now we are very grateful for what we are getting.
Chantal...there's a beautiful name for a tropical storm to welcome a baby girl into the calm & greenery that follows...Derivation: of Old French origin, and the meaning of Chantal is "stone". From "cantal".
It was originally given in honour of Saint Jeanne-Françoise de Chantal (17th-century), a woman of great piety who adopted a strict religious life and founded an order of nuns, the Vistandines, devoted at first to charity and later to teaching and devotion to Jesus. The name has come to be associated with French "chant" meaning "song".
