We recently booked La Sirena and can't wait for our first trip to Jamaica! Do you mind if I ask you a few questions? a) Is Jake's really close enough to walk to or is a taxi more appropriate? b) Is there a hammock? and c) Are breakfast and dinner times set by the staff or pretty flexible? d) Is there a phone there to call a taxi? Any suggestions or tips would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

Kelli

JT was one of the winners of Treasure Beach Foundation's villa raffle which benefited the students of Treasure Beach. The villa's use was donated by Steve and Dianne Morgan, and further generosity was provided by Treasure Tours for the airport transport and Joshua Stein for an on-site massage.

We had the pleasure of meeting JT and his guest while they were there, and I can attest to the fact they were blown away by the villa and the staff--Miss Ida and Miss Monica. They felt like they were in heaven. Meals are served at the guests' convenience, and they are delicious. Yes, there is a house phone to call a taxi; I would ask Miss Ida who she recommends.

The walk to Jakes is easily 20 minutes, perhaps a bit more. It's fine if you like to walk; otherwise, get a ride.

Thank you! We chose La Sirena because of the great reviews on Miss Ida and Miss Monica :-)

Ok, all you who have stayed at Serena. We checked the place out a few years ago, met Miss Ida and Miss Monica, and thought they were very nice. Loved the villa, but we were a bit concerned about a nearby bar/convenience store just down the lane. What sort of noise comes from that bar? or from other sources around the place? Please be dead honest; we seek maximum peace and quiet when we go on the rare vacation.

Thanks!

You will get some noise from that bar/convenience store. If you want maximum peace and quiet go a bit farther down to Rainbow Tree which sits on lots of land or go into Fort Charles. Fort Charles is very quiet but there is also the problem of cell phone reception and similar which may make you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. Also the road gets real bad in Fort Charles.

What's the name of the bar that is so close to La Sirena? Are there safety concerns or just noise from music?

My cousin and his friends are as I type packing up and getting ready to depart La Sirena after a wonderful week long holiday. I had the pleasure of joining them for dinner last night and was treated to garlic lobster and homemade macaroni and cheese. Yum!! Oh, and let's not forget about the delicious key lime pie for desert. Thanks Miss Ida and Monica!

The nearby bar is the South Pole. It is a bar/shop where you can also purchase some grocery items. There is no loud music coming from the bar on a daily basis and unless they are holding an occasional dance it is a pretty quiet place. Furthermore, if you are staying at La Sirena, you are mostly spending your time in the back of the house as that is where the pool and sea view are located. So the house itself is a further buffer to any "street noise".

My cousin and his friends spent some time at the South Pole and had a ball there. They just loved how after meeting the owners and some others from the area each time they walked by they were greeted with friendly hellos like they had lived there all their lives. I know of at least one time this week where the men were sent out to the bar to restock the beer supply in the villa and although it is a 3 minute walk away did not return for a few hours as they were having so much fun chatting with everyone.

Oh, and by the way, upon arrival at the villa my cousin had a special surprise awaiting his girlfriend.

So now I am very happy to say, "Welcome to the family Tricia!"

And Treasure Beach is a great place for weddings!!

No safety concerns whatsoever from that bar.

LOVE LOVE LOVE that marriage proposal. It almost made me want to cry and I don't know any of the people involved.

Thanks, all, for your comments about noise from South Bar. And one more? barking dogs?

La Sirena is a gem!
The area is wonderful!
The neighbors are great!

Congratulations to Trica and Rebecca's cousin! :-)

We can confirm whole-heartedly that never once did we feel uneasy, uncomfortable or even out of place. Within the first day or 2, you become part of the neighborhood receiving "hey mon's" everywhere you go....very cool!! The only sound we heard were the waves rolling onto the shore and we always had the beach to ourselves.
As for La Sirena and our new-found family, Miss Ida, Monica, Shepard and Lance (and we can't forget the camera queen Haley), words can't describe how at home they made us feel...and THE FOOD, BEYOND YUMMMMY!!! Boy did we have some good laughs with them, too!
A special thanks to Rebecca and the sneaky Treasure Tours and La Sirena staff who helped Gerry surprise the heck out of me, a memory I will always cherish!

HI we stayed at La Sirena for a long stay and didn't find noise to be a problem at all, its up to you when you want to eat and we never felt uneasy in any way about the bar and shop, just say hi, everyone is friendly and respectful.
if you want to go to jakes during the day i would say order a taxi which can be done from the phone in the kitchen however its a nice walk in the evening especially when it becomes a full moon! you can also get home delivery on pizza if u fancy. as for the staff they are amazing <3
