I know the prices vary. I know you are supposed to find out the price before you go. I know a tip is extra.

This is what I would like to know. Are the prices always by the number of people on the boat or is there a base price and then so much extra for each additional person like for an airport run? Are children charged less and if this is true what age is considered a child? What did you get charged for a trip up the Black River? What about a trip only to the Pelican Bar? What about a trip that is up the Black River and also includes the Pelican Bar? The more specifics you can give the more it would help. Thank you.

I just got back from TB and my wife and I did a trip to Floyd's Pelican Bar. The going price is $35US/person. However, the boat guys will not take just 1 person because it is not profitable for them to take only one person.
I do not know the cost for Black River and Floyd's combined.
You should ALWAYS bargain with the boats guys to get a better price. The more people the cheaper the per person price for the trip.
Do not be afraid to "bargain" it is the Jamaican way.
ONE LOVE !!
Mike

Capt. Dennis has a web site that lists costs of his trips. I'd add a link but I'm not sure if that is allowed on here or not.
The trip costs do not show any special price for children.
He lists Pelican Bar & Black River together as $120 for 1-2 ppl, $150 for 3 ppl. $45 each for a party of 4.

Here's the link for Captain Dennis's web site: http://www.captain-dennis.com

He's the guy I always go with because he's knowledgeable about the environment of the area so he provides great information about what you're seeing. He's also very involved with local efforts to create marine sanctuaries which should ensure the sustainability of the fishing industry.

I like Captain Dennis site. Can anyone say what the white sand beach trip is all about because it is the most expensive trip.

That is Malcolm Bay and/or Galleon Beach. It takes approximately 45 minutes to get there via boat. It is about 15 minutes past Black River but before Font Hill.

It is a very beautiful stretch of beach and worth every penny!

As I understand boat tours to Black River are $150 for up to 3 people, and $50 extra each additional person. I don't know about Pelican Bar.
