I want to make sure I get this right!I understand to use the ambulance from Treasure Beach to Black River hospital is $7000 Jamaican dollars, and it only operates during certain hours.

That is not correct information. I made a quick call to the BREDS office and obtained the accurate information. It is $2,0000 JA for an emergency call and $5,000 JA for a charter.

Those working with the ambulance are all First Aid and CPR trained by Jamaica Red Cross. There is oxygen and a defibrillator in the ambulance and they are trained to operate them.

The number to call for ambulance service is 876-965-3640.

Just to keep the ambulance licensed, insured, and maintained is a major expense. This is a great service provided to our small community. The more we all come together and support this service the less they will have to charge to keep the ambulance going.

Thanks for getting the correct information Rebecca. This sounds like very fair prices.

There is a paid driver who works between the hours of 9am-5pm 5 days a week, and night shift is operated my the volunteers.

This ambulance is a great asset for the community. The prices seem very reasonable. I'm glad to know the people on board are CPR trained and that there is O2 and a defib on board.

Thank you BREDS for making sure your community has this option available. I have heard that larger, more touristy towns in Jamaica don't even have these things available. BIG UP to Treasure beach and BREDS for making this happen.

Can we contribute to BREDS and earmark it for support of the ambulance?

Thanks Rebecca for confirming, I think that price sounds reasonable. Is the ambulance available 24 hrs per day?.
