I shall be live on the radio today with Gerry McDanie. Listen in if you can.

Palav: Jamaican. (verb) To spread out, draw long bench, hang out and enjoy good company.

Rice and peas and escoveitch fish or brown-stewed chicken is a Jamaican Sunday afternoon staple. So too is the habit of dropping in on friends and family at just about that time when the delicacy is about to be served.

Sunday Palav continues the tradition with a rich mix of music, Jamaican proverbs, *labrish and important *smaddies.

The host is rambunctious and sometimes slightly irreverent but always as good company as his invited guests pulled from the virtual Jamaican who’s who almanac.

Palav is one of the most engaging shows in lifestyle programming on radio – a mix of discussion and music, handpicked by its guests and hosted by Gerry McDaniel, aka Gerry McD, Gerry Mac or plain old G-Mac.

The show has unique segments that highlight the unique nature of each guest, through such elements as U-Pick (short, snap-answer questions about everything from the mundane to the bizarre) and To the Edge which is guaranteed to reveal more than was intended.

Each guest is also required to come armed with a selection of their all time favourite songs, and be prepared to explain what impact the songs have had on their lives and what makes them favourites.

Sunday Palav is engaging, must listen radio - time well spent, from 1pm to 5:00pm each Sunday on Real Jamaican Radio.

*Labrish: to talk freely or loosely.

*Smaddy, smaddies: somebody, someone.
