The Sandy Bank Primary School is holding a movie night every Sunday at 4:00 p.m. It is a fundraiser for the computer lab at the school, and all are welcome to attend. Cost is $100 for adults and $50 for children. This Sunday's movie will be "Pirates of the Caribbean" (pg-13).

Yippie! I had the privilege of being at the premier and the quality of DVD on a big screen amazed me. Looking forward to seeing Johnny Dep with that quality!!

That was such a fun movie!

You know I thought that would be a great idea for someone to do on a weekly basis, just as a family entertainment kind of thing. Great idea for a fundraiser!!

Is there any way to donate towards the computer lab without going to the movie night?? It's kind of far for me. :-)

The computer lab is in need of educational DVD's of any kind. For example, the solar system, anatomy, rain forest, environmental, etc. You can send the DVD's directly to The Sandy Bank Primary School, Calabash Bay P.A., Treasure Beach, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, West Indies.

Thanks for asking Kate!

Sandy Bank could use educational DVDs of any kind (ecology, volcano, solar system, anatomy, etc --- we haven't gotten any yet!). It's easy to put them in a padded envelope and mail to Sandy Bank Primary School.

In addition, any recent DVD movies appropriate for young children would be greatly appreciated -- this is important to next year's entertainment(maybe, when you pass by your local Blockbuster and see a "kid's DVD on sale you can think of us?).

Also, for school year 2004-2005, we will be utilizing a Microscope donated by the USAF Clinic at Malstom AFB. Any prepared slides (again, padded envelope) would be appreciated. We introduced this year's sixth graders to the "MICRO WORLD" and they thought it was very cool.

A special thanks to Lynette (sweet lips?) for coordinating 13 laptop computers for the school and TBWG. They are our most modern ones and have sound and we are able to input some "memory hog" programs. Thank you Lynette!!!!! Lynette, we are downloading Encarta on the laptops for teacher lesson planning. A new beginning.

Another huge Mahalo (Hawaiian for thank you) to Dr. Estes for providing the school our new Dell Laptop with DVD capabilities, an LCD projector and about 15 movies for the kids. Sheree, all the teachers are using the equipment. You have made an enormous and significant difference.

My wife and I are going home (Oahu) for a month to visit the kids and grand daughter. Please feel free to write me after August. Patti and I will continue to be US Peace Corps Volunteers here for another year.
Joe

Thanks for your message Joe and a big thanks to you for all you are doing at the Sandy Bank School with the computers, students, and teachers.

If anyone would like to send out some CD's, the address is Sandy Bank Primary School, Calabash Bay P.A., Treasure Beach, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, West Indies.

I was so impressed to walk into the computer lab a few days ago and see all those laptop computers! Sweet Lips, sincere thanks! It seems there is much more that is Sweet about you than Lips.

Thanks, too, Dr. Estes. I have personally enjoyed the DVD and LCD already and I have seen first hand the benefits it is providing for the children.

And then the microscope! Wow! I remember my first look into the microscope as a young person. Joe was showing me slides of onion skin, bugs wings, etc. that the children have brought in to take a look at under the microscope. Isn't it great when learning is fun.

All the best to all of you who are opening up a word of knowlege to our children.
