I love this raffle. It is amazing and the cause is wonderful. Thank you kindly to Treasure Beach Foundation for helping the children. I must selfishly add that I really want us to win one of the vacation packages.

These students are so very worthy of your support. Here’s an example.

One scholarship student who is taking 18 different subjects and doing extremely well told me:

“Being a member of the Treasure Beach Scholarship Foundation has helped my family entirely. With school fees and materials so expensive, I don’t see how we could afford it without the help of this God sent programme. We are truly grateful and appreciative of all the help. May God continue to bless and protect each person involved in this wonderful programme.”

What she didn’t say—but I learned from speaking to her Mother—is that her Mother is a serious diabetic with high blood pressure. Without her daughter being on a Treasure Beach Foundation scholarship, she often could not afford the cost of her lifesaving medications.

To help this young lady and our other scholarship students, please go to www.TreasureBeachFoundation.org.

The people who donate things for this raffle should be rewarded with more than thanks. I would suggest our readers go out of their way to give them business. I was taught one hand washes another and together they wash the face and this is how I try to live.

Thanks to the Treasure Beach Foundation's 2011 Villa Raffle, and a little bit of luck, 8 of my closest friends and I enjoyed a full week of rest and relaxation at the Rainbow Tree Villa earlier this year. It was a week that we will never forget - full of beautiful sunsets, delicious food, impeccable hospitality, unforgettable experiences.

We hope you will join us in supporting the outstanding students of Treasure Beach by purchasing raffle tickets for this year's extra special raffle!

We have no specific number of tickets to be sold (no minimum or maximum), though we would like to sell as many as possible to get as much as we can for the students of Treasure Beach. If you are trying to figure your odds, Cap, I can tell you that we end up selling fewer tickets than you might imagine; therefore, I believe your chances of winning are far better than you would encounter in most raffles.

Hi Karen
Glad to support the TB community , thanks for your good work in organizing this opportunity for young students .
I have gone to the network for good life site and made my donation . Does this doantion automatically generate tickets for the villa draws? It appears on the site that this is only a donation although the ticket box is also indicated it says nothing about how the tickets will be sent and seems to indicate that I have made a donation only . Could you please clarify for me if I am in the draw. Many thanks

LaSirena Villa is one of five fabulous places offered in our 2012 Villa Raffle. Only $25 buys a ticket that gives you five chances to win a one-week vacation package for 4 to 10 people. LaSirena can comfortably accommodate 6 in its three beautiful bedrooms.

Here's one of LaSirena's three bedroomsLaSirena BR

Susan, thanks for your ongoing support.

We got notification you had purchased tickets late last night. If you look at the computer-generated receipt you got from our secure credit card processor (toward the bottom), it says "Custom Question Response" which asked if you wanted to make a donation or purchase tickets. Yours will say "tickets."

The processor notifies us via an e-mail. Then it is our responsibility to send you the tickets. The first batch, including yours, will be in the mail a week from today.

Even if tickets are not received by the purchasers by when we do the drawing--and they can't all possibly be received because we cut off receiving money at midnight December 17 and then draw the winning tickets on December 18th, if tickets have been purchased the stubs (Our half of the tickets) are included in the drawing.

I hope this helps.

Thanks again for caring about the students.

This year we have some livelier places included in our raffle.

One is Sunset Resort & Villas, offering you not only lovely oceanfront rooms but a huge pool, a restaurant, and a lounge. Your spacious room will be equipped with satellite TV and a mini fridge. (Sunset is offering two adjacent oceanfront rooms for the winner.) This is augmented by a delicious gourmet dinner for four (with wine) at the fabulous Marblue restaurant, a sunset boat cruise with Dennis Abrahams, round-tip airport transfers by Treasure Tours, and an onsite massage for one person in your group by Joshua Stein. All in all, this is a great one-week vacation package for a lucky winner.

I am pretty new to Treasure Beach and I will be entering the raffle. I do have a question about the cost of education. If school is free is Jamaica as I think it is, why does it cost to send a child to school? Please excuse me if I am asking something that is obvious and everyone else knows.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Karen Kennedy on Thursday, December 06, 2012 - 03:12 pm: Edit Post

Yes, the tuition was finally waived by the Jamaican government several years ago.

However, students still need to pay for:

Transportation (no free school bus)
Uniforms
Shoes
Books
School Supplies
Lab Fees
Lunches
Snacks
Activity Fees
Insurance
External Examination Fees
And More

Anyone who’s been to Treasure Beach knows that few residents can count on any sort of steady income. Therefore, it is often a matter of deciding whether or not educating one child is more important than the entire family’s food and medicines. This is an awful decision to have to make--and why students often attend only on the days the family can come up with the money.

This is why we have awarded so many competitive scholarships. Our scholarships pay for all the above items.

Doubloon Villa is yet another place you can win in this year's Villa Raffle. It is spacious and gracious--and boasts four bedrooms, a gorgeous pool, beautiful gardens, and a moon roof where you can sit and enjoy beautiful views while sipping cocktails. Though secluded, Doubloon is very close to where the action is in Treasure Beach. This wonderful offering includes round-trip airport transport, a sunset cruise for up to 8, an onsite massage for one especially lucky person, and more.

Please go to www.DoubloonVilla.com for more info on this special villa or www.TreasureBeachFoundation.org for details on the Villa Raffle.

All winners of this year's Villa Raffle--and all the guests staying with them--will be able to experience the beauty of a sunset cruise, courtesy of Dennis Abrahams. If his Shallow Bar is in the water (this depends upon the season), and the water is sufficiently calm, you'll get to go on it. It leaves from right near Eggy's at about 4 p.m. and returns as the sun sets. The Shallow Bar goes east (the opposite direction from Floyd's), allowing you to see a portion of Treasure Beach from the water that most have never seen. You can also climb the cliffs and jump, snorkel, swim, or merely sit and enjoy yourself as you take photos. Yes, as the name implies, the Shallow Bar does have a bar aboard.

If the Shallow Bar is out of the water or the seas are somewhat rough, Dennis will instead treat the winners to the same cruise in his boat.

Either way, it's bound to be a lot of fun.

Tickets are only $25 each and may be purchased securely via credit card: www.treasurebeachfoundation.org

If you have not yet bought a ticket for the villa raffle, we ask you to read what students and their parents recently said about the scholarship program you support through this raffle. 100% of the proceeds go to the scholarship fund.

“For the past six years I have been a part of this scholarship programme. It has served me not only as a source of financial support but as a motivator: that hard work brings great rewards. I am very grateful to this Foundation and to all the many kind donors who have made such an invaluable contribution to my education. I will never forget you all. May God bless and keep you. Thanks a million!”

(from the mother of a student): “Thank you very much for the scholarship for without the scholarship I don’t think my daughter would have attended school regularly. I am thankful for all the organization has done and I appreciate it very much. God bless you. Thank you.”

“Once more, I'd just like to say THANK YOU!! You don't know how much you've impacted my life, and the many others that have been blessed by what you are doing. I continue to strive for excellence, as my gratitude towards you grows each day.”

“I am very thankful for the scholarship because it has helped a lot and made things easier on my parents in a time of need. My parents have three children to take care of and provide for and just knowing one of us is being taken care of and not having to stress over school things and wondering how they are going to send me to school each term helps a lot.”

“It has been such a great opportunity to be a part of this scholarship program. It has helped a lot through situations, and I am grateful. Also, being a part of this program pushes me to excel in anything I do as much as possible—which is a wonderful thing.”

(from the father of a student): “I think this program is the best thing that could ever happen to us, and as a father of one of the students, I truly want to say from the bottom of my heart: Thank you all so very much and may God continue to bless you all.”

“I am grateful for this scholarship as it has helped me a lot. Financially, it has allowed my parents to freely provide for my basic needs. Also, academically it has helped. I am motivated to work hard to achieve my goals as I know I need to get a certain average to stay on the scholarship. Finally, I am proud of myself to know that I have the ability to be on a scholarship. I am elated and will continue to work hard to achieve my goals.

Please buy your ticket today.

Anxious: I will do my utmost to reach each winner, first by telephone--and then via e-mail--on December 18th. Even if I am not successful in doing so, the names of the winners will be published here late on December 18th, assuming the Webmasters are willing and able to do so.

Jeannie: All places can be booked on a space-available basis. One place will allow a stay between May 1 and December 14, 2013. Four of the five will allow stays up through November 30, 2013; depending upon particular circumstances, the owner may allow you to book for a date later than indicated. (Please go to www.treasurebeachfoundation.org to see a copy of the flyer; it specifies the dates for each property.)
