We have stayed in Negril several times and found it's beautiful white sand, calm seas and level terrain to be quite nice.

Treasure Beach, however, is an entirely different experience. Just the view from the higher elevations as you make your way down to TB is indescribable. Once there, the diversity of landscapes, the beauty, even the laid-back genuinely friendly people, captures you and draws you in and brings instant contentment.

My wife and I recently returned from a two week stay. Having done our ''homework'' before we left, we immediately sought out a scooter to rent.
With that we were able to explore several miles of coastline and really enjoy that diverse landscape I mention above.

As early risers we would be up before sunrise and sit and drink our coffee watching and hearing the sea crash against the coral. Something we never experienced in Negril. With us would be the beautiful Pelicans flying high above before plummeting to the sea to catch their morning breakfast!

One of many early morning jaunts was when we took the scooter to Great Bay and drove as far as the road took us. We then hiked across the most beautiful rolling hills to Back Sea Side. We had read about this isolated place but never imagined such beauty!! Tucked under the impressive Lover's Leap, we found a beautiful , extremely secluded beach with amazing shells. With our snorkels we explored the sea bottom and swam and walked and hours past in what seemed mere seconds.
On another morning we made our way the opposite directions and drove out to Ft. Charles bay.
Wow! ''Indescribable" doesn't even touch what we found! My beautiful wife and I had the entire, amazing, beach to ourselves!! The waves we large and we laughed as they tossed us around!

It is obvious I could go on forever..and still not even come close to answering your question ''what is so great about Treasure Beach''.

Whether eating a plate of amazing food at a local restaurant, teasing and joking and bantering with the local folks, cooling off in Frenchman's bay, snorkeling in Calabash bay, taking an evening walk with the many lights above on Pedro Bluff overlooking the valley below, driving our scooter to Southfield for a bite to eat and a tour of Lover's Leap, taking a fishing boat with our good friends passing dolphins on our way to go up the Black River, hiking up onto the Bluff at Great Bay, and the myriad of other opportunities that Treasure Beach has to offer, my question would be ''what isn't so great about TB"?

Wes

The people are the friendliest in all of Jamaica and it is the safest also. Not to mention the privacy and less noise for relaxing from the hussle of everyday life. My favorite place in Jamaica!

This sounds trite but the people in Treasure Beach are the best. You feel like family soon after arriving and never want to go back home. It's my favorite place on earth.

TB is not for everyone, but after over 20 years of visiting Jamaica and going all over the island, it is definitely for me and my wife. We will be back at the end of this year.
ONE LOVE !!
Mike

Wes,
seems like you know. That's the way to enjoy the area. It's not for everyone, but for alot of us it kind of has all we need in a setting more beautiful than one could imagine...

I concur with what everyone above has said. My husband and I had an incredible time at Treasure Beach and we'll be back as soon as our budget allows us to. I would also agree that the people there make it a magical place and, as it was my first visit to Jamaica, I can't imagine going anywhere else but Treasure Beach.

In January I will be returning to Treasure Beach. This will be the first time I have ever been back to a place I have visited. Not that I did not enjoy the many places I have traveled but this is the first time I have been drawn back to a place in this way. It's not for everyone but it most certainly is "for me". Many places have natural beauty great food and culture but I feel that the real difference in TB the people!
