Terrazas Villa looks very nice and I am considering renting it - I am looking for any input as there don't seem to be any reviews. I know Treasure Tours is the booking agent which seems to be a reputable company, but am looking for any other input I can find.

When friends owned the villa I always enjoyed visiting. Loved the peace, quiet and ocean views from the terrace cooled naturally pon the sea breeze. Enjoyed the pool and the long steep walk through the terraces down to the 'bottom' garden and easy access to the pristine beach you could walk feeling you were the only person in the world.
Only thing I didn't like was the fortress wall around the villa visible from the road. However once you are inside it is a forgotten misdemeaner.............enjoy.......were I a millionnaire I'd live there.
Need transport to access Frenchman's and restaurants, nightlife.

No reviews. 100% available. I would be somewhat suspect.

Treasure Tours is very reliable but not all properties are created equal.

You are correct "Keep Looking" not all properties are created equal. Terrazas is a fabulous property set on a wonderful location. If privacy is what you want this is the place for you.

We are currently contacting some past guests and asking them to review the property..

We understand there are several scams out there and we do agree folks should be very careful about booking places on-line.

Just as an FYI, Treasure Tours is very proud of our reputation and we would not list a property on our site unless it was up to our standards.

Thank you for your input and concern.

Out of interest, for those out there who know or who want to guess, how much would a property like Terrazas Villa cost to buy ?

Thanks.

At one point that same villa was up for sale. Maybe it still is,the owner proposed to me for $500,00 US dollars.I thought it was high and refused.

To Name Withheld. An educated guess is Terrazas cost easily $500,000 for the land, architectural fees, materials and building, and furnishings. Look at what else is for sale in that price range and I believe you'll be surprised.

Why must we contact you Rebecca if we have any further questions? Do you get a slice of the commissions?

To NAME WITHHELD Treasure Tours manages the property and, therefore, is the liason with the owner. If you would like to speak with the owner contact us and we will pass on the owner's contact information to you.

Terrazas is further down the road from John Rocks Point. It is located about 1/4 mile outside of Billy's Bay heading towards Ft. Charles.

My advice is if there are no reviews posted anywhere something may be wrong. People who are either very satisfied or totally annoyed tend to post reviews on the sites like Trip Advisor, Home Away and VRBO. A so-so place usually merits no reviews. To us, experienced renters, no reviews is an alert unless the property is brand new. I would also ask how long the staff has been there, most especially the head housekeeper or cook and I would want to see reviews that talk up the staff. The quality of the staff will overcome many property deficiencies.

Here is a review that was recently posted on FlipKey. It received four out of five possible stars:

Relaxing Vacation away from the World
Left on 09/25/2012 for a stay in August 2012

We have been to Jamaica 5 times and to Treasure Beach 3 times. We much prefer this over a cruise. We love Jamaica because the flight is short for us, the beaches are beautiful, the people are friendly and love kids, it is safe, water is clean and everyone speaks English. We especially love Treasure Beach because it is a more rural, authentic Jamaican experience with a laid back lifestyle and friendly locals. No tourists, crowds or peddlers on the beach.
The best thing about Terrazas was the view and the pool. Tatyann was super nice and will cook anything you want. Fried chicken, lobster and spicy beef were our favorites. The sunsets were beautiful. The weather was great. Many nights we would lay by the pool and watch for shooting stars. There are lots of shells on the beach. The ocean water isn't good to swim in though because it is rocky. If you want to swim in the ocean you can take a short drive down to Jack Sprat's. The pizza is good, nice swimming area and they have wifi. They also deliver if you are in the mood for pizza at the house.
A few things to know: food is expensive in Jamaica so you may want to pack a bag just of snacks, cereal, etc. There are lizards around. They never bothered us, but you will see them around the house. They have biting ants so you'll want to make sure to put food away and clean up any crumbs from the floor to keep them out. The roads in Jamaica outside the city are bumpy so if you are prone to motion sickness you might want to take Dramamine before the ride to Treasure Beach. A few excursions to consider: Our favorite tour is the Black River boat tour and Pelican Bar. It is so much fun. Straight out of a travel magazine.
A few things I didn't like: no internet, but you can go to Jack Sprat's if you need to get on the internet. No TV. We brought our computer with movies on it for our 4 year old to watch because there really isn't reliable TV there. But, these things might be part of the appeal to you.

Thanks Experienced Renter - I was personally contacted by the person who wrote the above review and she has answered all my questions and we have rented Terrazas. While I am always very leery of a place with no reviews, Terrazas is managed by a reputable company and not an individual which makes a huge difference, so I did not just write it off.
