The Treasure Beach Women's Group, The Citizens Alert Group, South St. Elizabeth Lion's Club and HEART will be working in conjunction with Jamaica Environmental Trust on cleaning up the beaches in the greater Treasure Beach area tomorrow.

Come one and all to help us with this project. We will be starting at 6:00 a.m. and finishing at 12:00 noon with a team on each of the following beaches: Great Bay Beach, Old Wharf Beach, Calabash Bay Beach, Frenchmen's Beach, Billy's Bay Beach and Ft. Charles Beach. Just show up and we will provide the bags, water and light refreshments.

Help us keep our beaches clean!

The beach clean-up and data collection was a great success!

What I was most impressed with was the amount of trash collected. I've been involved in beach clean-ups for years now and this was the least amount of trash I've ever seen collected. We still have a long way to go but I am very happy to see us heading in the right direction.

I was too late to catch the Citizen's Alert Group working on Great Bay Beach. By the time I got there with the camera they had already finished the job.

Big thanks to all who participated!

It's nice to know this day exist, but the problem is some people do not seem to care by looking at the fourth picture. Where this was taken I hope the citizens of that beach will take a page out of the the others' book and try to do much better in keeping their beach cleaner.

Keep up the good work everyone do not let garbage spoil those lovely beaches. They realy are "in a sense" your livelyhoods.
God Bless.

Floridian, you're right that we all need to get better about not littering in the first place, but I take hear at Rebecca's comment above that there were less bags collected than before. This tells me that things are going in the right direction.

Alot of the garbage on the beaches comes from boats, not the local inhabitants.

Everyday could be Beach Clean Up Day and Earth Day.

I guess one day a year is a start!

Thankyou to all who participated.
