Hi there, after talking about Treasure Beach for years to my friends, they've finally booked a trip with me. We are 3 nights in Negril then one week in Treasure Beach.
It will be their first time ever in Jamaica.
We already know when & where we are staying & I think it's during the Super Bowl, so Sunset will be the Super Bowl viewing spot. We are in Calabash Bay, so things are close-by for drinks & food.
They want to do things like horseback riding & zip lines. I know Negril offers these things, but would rather have them spend their money in Treasure Beach & find things to do nearby.
I've got them sold on YS Falls & Pelican Bar.
Does anyone have good suggestions for them? For me, just laying around the beaches & exploring & visiting people are on my wish list. But, these are two 22 year olds.....ideas?

There are zip lines at YS Falls.

They can hang around Jack Sprat.

They can go fishing for a day.

Take a river trip up the Black River. Use a small boat so that you can get up past the low bridge and stop in at Rudy's place for a cold Red Stripe and a swim. It is a natural paradise and you will see many birds and crocodiles along the way. I would combine this with a trip to the Pelican Bar. Black River in the morning and then lunch and the afternoon spent at the Pelican bar.

Combine the YS Falls with a road trip to Appleton Rum factory. There are many interesting places to stop along to way for a bite to eat and a cold beer. Drive through the Bamboo Road and stop at Middle Quarters for some pepper shrimp.

You will definitely enjoy these two day trips!

There are two other trips that I'm planning to do next year: Head east to see Lover's Leap and then to Alligator Pond for lunch at Little Ochies. The other is to go west to Bluefields and Belmont and see the Peter Tosh Memorial.

I really enjoy road trips with a destination but lots of time to stop here and there to meet the people and see the sights. Talk to your driver! He will surely have ideas for interesting places to stop along the way to make for an enjoyable day.

When you are in Treasure Beach, just pick a direction, along the beach or down a road and go wandering for a few hours. Relax and take your time. You will meet wonderful friendly people and see many interesting things. You never know what what adventures will find you!

DavidJ do you rent a car or hire a driver thru Treasure Tours?

Great ideas! I was thinking of renting the scooters, too, just for exploring the area close-by. I'm always wiped out after a day of sun but it's been a long time sine I was 22.
Renting a car seems like a bad idea. The cost isn't that much lower than hiring a driver & just riding in Jamaica has shown me that I could never drive there. I'm glad that Treasure Tours has scooters for rent now!

Tourist, I tend to agree with hiring a driver especially if you feel ANY discomfort with JA driving.

It is invaluable to have a local at the wheel, not only for peace of mind and safety, but also for that insider's knowledge of the hidden gems, great little stops and other things not easily researched or covered in a guidebook.

Treasure Tours has my seal of approval for sure as more than reputadable, reliable and knowledgeable, you won't regret booking with them and for sure your friends will get the best feel for the area and a positive impression.

As a one time "first time in Treasure Beach" visitor, I would also encourage you to consider a day trip to Little Ochie, with stops along the way to enjoy the beauty of Jamaica! The Black River trip to Rudy's is a wonderful boat ride! We go every year, always something new to see. I shot video of the trip last year; it's here on YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ksfnhi_YBw&feature=plcp We visited Accompong this year; what a delightful, educational trip that was! http://www.jamaicanmaroons.com/ Definitely engage one of the area's experienced drivers, would be my recommendation. You see a lot more scenery that way!

Thanks for the great video, Big Joe. That's a great idea! Thank you for sharing!
I think you've all convinced me that a professional driver will be the only way to go.

We hired a driver from Treasure Tours. Excellent service and we really enjoyed the company and local knowledge of the drivers. Driving in Jamaica is not for the faint of heart! Leave it to the proffesionals and enjoy the ride and the scenery.
