The rates look very good. Has any one used them?
Pro's? Con's?
Would you recommend them?

GREAT! I have used them every time I go to JA. and they are the greatest! No problems with rates or meeting at airport. Mr. Dhana is a true friend.

Is it true that even if you purchase the CDW insurance if the car was wrecked you could be liable for the 1st $3500? Of course we do not plan to wreck the car but you just never know.

That is kind of a high deductible

Check with your credit card company, you may have CDw coverage and don't even need it. We have always used a air Jamaica mc and never paid for the CDW , you may need to bring a letter the first time.

Thank You Sharon.
I have heard that many credit cards exclude Jamaica from rental car insurance coverage.

I was planning to use a debit card.

I looked at Island car rental as well. It was significantly higher with 0 liability.

I may have open a new credit card or consider a private rental.

Most likely nothing would happen to the car but you never know!

All credit cards i know of -- since the Mastercard World Card was shut down, exclude Jamaica, Ireland and Israel. Are you certain than that the Air Jamaica Mastercard covers CDW??? That would be sufficient reason to GET the card - every time! I thought there probably would not even still BE an Air Ja MC, since they were sold?

If you are renting a car get ALL coverage. We had a very minor mishap with a rental vehicle and were charged not only for the repairs (cost much more than in the U.S.) but for all the time the car couldn't be rented while it was being repaired. In another case, we were charged for two new tires we had to buy for a rental vehicle.

Insurance/coverage is always a big gamble. I've never had an issue with having to pay more when returning a car, but I know those who have.

Again, its insurance against something going wrong...so how lucky do you feel :-)

I guess we have been lucky. We have arrived back to return car with a flat tirres, crack in windshield and never had to pay for anything. Air JA card has changed to Barclay world card and have had no issues. I have been going to JA for the last 10 years and rented vehicles every time and no issues. Planning for next years trip!

Thanks, Sharon - I will definitely look in to the Barclay's Card.

Is it true that if you are over a certain age in Jamaica you cannot get a car to rent? If so, what age is it?

We'd prefer not to drive all the way from Kingston to TB, I realize it's expensive but we'd have a van pick us up. But once we are in TB we'd like to rent a car for the week (or even a couple of mopeds) Do you know if there is anyplace in Treasure Beach where we can rent a car or mopeds to use locally?

I believe that there is a car rental company in Sav that I believe I have heard will bring the care to TB for you. I wish that I could recall the name of the company.

If one is renting a car or moped locally is there any type of insurance coverage?
