It is now 49 years since the sinking of the Snowboy, resulting in 39 deaths; many of the victims from Treasure Beach.

In 1988 we had a 25th anniversary memorial service and an exhibition on safety and security at sea.

Time now for the planning to start for an even bigger function or series of functions to mark the 50th anniversary next year.

Hi Earl , this is great, Sunset Resort would be willing to host such an event if the timing is right, we are also still working to get the Fisherman Memorial erected, we have funds that we have raised but having a difficult time with getting the approval from Parish council for the land to place it on. Please get in touch with me regarding this. Thanks.

Good idea. We need to reflect, look at present fishing safety with a vision for the future. Sometimes its the little things that gripes me so,celebrate, commemorate, remember, I strongly believe most of us who love fish and care about the safety and working conditions of our fisherman understand well. Hope I am not seen as picky.

Puzzled I think the person meant a celebration of life.

When someone passed on and there is going to be a tombing I know the drinks and food and laughter is the theme of the day. I call that a celebration so what is the difference if someone say celebrate for this occasion.
