Thanks to Canada for reminding that rest and relaxation are enhanced by the presence of good entertainment. As each of us have our favorite good, all tastes may not be served. Indeed, some are best excluded. Noise at the wrong times and the others.

Any ideas of entertainments that could be encouraged? The Womens Group are showing us the way as are our artists, craftpeople and musicians.

Plays. So love a good play. No theater yet in TB? Must be many fine actors waiting to be discovered. Comedy shows at the theater, love a good laugh.

I am entertained by just the culture, and nature of Treasure Beach. Just sitting at one of the bars (especially Eggy's) and talking with the locals is entertaining.
A trip to the "Pelican Bar" is always FUN !!!
I am planning on being coming back this winter !!
ONE LOVE !!
Mike

We've copied this from another thread as its relevant here...

"...there is actually a lot to do for kids, I am raising 2 kids here 11 and 9, they play basketball, baseball soccer, playground at sports park, go fishing, swim all the time, there are also many attractions nearby, my kids like the dune buggies at bubbling spring, also love the pepper shrimpat middle quarters, YS falls is a great way to spend the day with kids, there is also kareoke everyweekend now at Frenchman Reef Rest. Thursday is movie night at Jack Sprat, my kids also enjoy crab hunting at night, and there is even a Zoo that isnt so far way. If a guest vacation was planned in the right time of year the deep sea fishing can be just spectacular, very good chance a youngster could catch a fish bigger than them ! my 2 do it all the time, fishing is excellent from Oct 1st thru May 30th, the fishing we do here isnt just a boat ride, its an adventure,we see dolphins, sea turtles, stingrays, even sharks, If I go without my 9 year old boy, who has been going since he was 6, he is mad at me for a week !!

Some famous faces enjoy being able to stroll around without paparazzi. maybe some would spend time with Aunty Jeans Crew. I'm sure they learn much about theatrics from us too.

Same for the artists, craftspeople, musicians etc who pass through.

Sharing skills happens naturally, who, where and when would give a boost.

There are many aspiring guitarists and drummers in TB. We can get local drums easier than guitars. Even $10 thrift shop guitars can usually be resurected. I find learning on a classic with nylon strings best. Anything is welcome, even Martins :-)

Dig deep into our musical heritage, before reggae. I hear there is a mento band somewhere in St Elizabeth that plays at small functions.I went to Black River school where we used to perform open air concerts/plays and sing traditional Jamaican folk songs(bannana boat song, Jamaican farewell etc) much to the delight of the audience. These are some of my fondest memories of my childhood. This was not unique to my school , other schools in Jamaica did the same. Maybe this could be a project for Sandy Bank??

Thanks Nigel. Jean at the Womens Group would know who is interested and may receive them, she should be easy to find or send a message to. New strings would be good, they can be difficult to access.
