Could this really happen?
I would agree with this. It needs to happen if over fishing is the cause for the scarcity of fish.
Everyone agrees that there is a scarecity of fish and that something has to be done. The devil is in the details however. For example, how will this be implemented? What will the fishermen do to feed their families? How long is this protection planned for?
What happened to consultation? Are those waters being fished at this time? If so, did any of our elected representatives discuss the matter with our local fishermen who are still trying to eke out a living from those waters? Or was this decision made, taking the full interest and future of the local people into account. What about the spear fishing and the dynamite fishing that goes on along the south coast? Will that be stopped dead too? In the absence of answers to these and other pertinent questions this seem to be a high-handed approach to a problematic matter that has been looming large for many years; one which has left many, many people without the ability to feed themselves and take care of bills. What of the future?
I am unsure about where the Pedro Cays are with relation to where that company plans to drill for oil. Could someone please explain these two locations with respect to TB.
