Rebecca, maybe you can help as you represent so many villas with pools.

Can anyone shed light on installing an inground pool recently?

What size did you put in and what was the cost?

Who did you use and would you use them again?

All of the places I know in Treasure Beach use Cosmopolitan Pools. The villas I represent use them and I have always been satisfied with them. Mr. Bailey-Hay is very knowledgeable and has always gone the extra mile to help out when a pool has a problem and time is an issue. Just this week we have been dealing with a major pool problem and he has made himself available 24/7 in working with us to find a solution to the problem.

Their email address is pools@cwjamaica.com and their phone number is 876-953-3744.

More and more folks are going with what is referred to as a plunge pool as the cost to operate pools is very high. I would also recommend looking into a solar pump as this will save you a great deal over time in electricity bills.

As a pool owner in Jamaica I would also recommend using a saltwater chlorine generator and filter.

I agree with that! I've not used one myself but have heard great things about them and know they are available through Cosmopolitan Pools. Pool chemicals are very very expensive here and not necessary with the saltwater chlorine generator.

As Rebecca said, you will not find anyone more knowledgeable and responsive than Ken Bailey-Hay of Cosmopolitan Pools.

We also agree that a saltwater chlorine generator is the way to go (instead of using massive amounts of chlorine).

Definitely look into a solar panels to power your pool pump, but understand you'll need extra capacity if you also have the saltwater chlorine generator.

Both our villas (Rainbow Tree and Rainbow Point) have good-sized pools and decks. Even though we are on the beach, we find our guests spend hours enjoying swimming (not just getting wet) and lounging around the pools. Rebecca is correct in saying these are more expensive to operate.

I love big pools. The plunge pools feel more like a big bathtubs but they are sure better than nothing. If this is for your own house then do what is best for you. If it's for a guest place, think what the extra investment might get you when people compare your place with others.

We use an AutoPilot salt chlorine generator. We have had to replace it twice in 20 years. www.autopilot.com

Love to turn a swimming pool into a fresh water pond stocked with fish, crayfish, snails, plants, stones etc.

Eventually the water becomes clean and clear without chlorine.

Push came to shove, these pools would be a source of fresh water.
