Hello citizens of Treasure Beach.
The Citizen Alert Group will reopen the Well Lane, ie Sandy Bank Basic School through to Great Bay on Saturday April 14th.
We are starting with 10 loads of crush stones and some larger stones to pack the washed out areas. We are buying the material from Parchment's and his machines will do the spreading.
We are inviting the public to come out and give us a hand. Come with a machete, a shovel, a hoe, a pair of gloves, and if cant work you can bring us some refreshments. Everything and everyone will be welcomed. We are hoping to start at 8.am. The Prez. or the Sec. will probebly give some more details on this, such as how funding was raised etc.

I would help if I were there, but could you try not to alter the appearance of the lane too much, keep it as a gravel road like what we had before asphalt.

Can't say I totally agree with you Spooky Dude. You are probably thinking of leaving things as is because it would be a reminder of the past. However, I am thinking of the kids that walk that Lane on a daily basis to get to and from school. Wouldn't it be nice to help out in this manner, although I am not sure if the funds are available for asphalt?

Hey Change,we are none the worse for walking on roads like that! I look back on those days with nostalgia, and while we cannot bring them back, we should keep a little reminder of what was once 'Camelot'! I know that's stretching it, I do long for the 'good 'ole days'! So save the funds for asphalt, if they are available, and preserve a little of the rusticity!

I think Mr. Hursley Moxam, Mr. George Deleon or some other active member of our community should be our councillor. Why do we have to bring someone else from a different community to run our affairs.Am I to draw the conclusion that there is nobody capable enough to do that? I would think that you would select people that know the area well , aware of the people's needs and accessible. It's like building your house at Frenchman and your kitchen at Sandy Bank.I don't know much about our councillor and my opinion should not cast a bad impression of him.

I would like to commend the entire Citizens' Alert Group for the work they are doing for the betterment of the Treasure Beach community. It would be good if all the active groups list the names of all the active members in the area so when we see them we can thank them personally.

Many were hard at work on Saturday starting work on the reopening of the lane.

What a scenic lane. As I walked down the lane I was treated to lovely views of the Santa Cruz Mountains on one side and the Great Pond on the other side.

Wishing the Citizens' Alert Group all the best with this ambitious project.

Well Opinion, if you don't know much about your councillor it seems you are not going out or he is not coming in but you should at least see him election time because that is the time promises are made by politicians and they are looking your vote. (Lots of promises are not kept)On the other hand if you are desperately in need to see him you can take a taxi to the Junction area. You are right Opinion we need somebody within the council borders.

So, Treasure Beach and it's environs, and all road users, I am happy to report that the Well Lane is now open as of Saturday afternoon.
We must give thanks to GTB/CABS, and a special thank you to Parchment & Son Hardware for their tremindous contribution.
I was worried that the heavy rain that fell after we were finished on Saturday might have made a mess but the road is still good to go. so happy motoring to you all and make use of the short cut to and from Great Bay.

It's funny our councillor was rejected by his party members and the people in his old South East St. Elizabeth constituency councils and we accept him in our area.Citizens have the right to elect their councillor but it tells me something about some of the people in our council.

I Regret people would find it necessary to publish petty thoughts instead of congratulating the folks of GTB/CABS, job well done Citizens.

We will be doing some more work on the lane this Saturday. Our appeal for help from the public fell on deft ears but that wont stop us from doing as much as we can.
