....someone asked; "What is the first thing we need for the area?".
All agreed that a well staffed and equiped clinic is needed, among other things.
Next, where?
And, how?
Ideas?
At the Sports Park.
yes, a clinic is needed, but the priority should be a cemetry.
Well Turey i hope the JEEP drive into treasure beach and bring us some goodies,i am hoping for the completion of the canal.
I'm sure such a facility would benefit the Park Spooky. Some thought of a quite acreage towards Cross Road, the diabetes centre is up there too. A projection of visitors per day that would be expected depending on the location would be a guide.
Some may not want it near them, others may welcome it.
The time to get to a hospital is a common question I get. Such a clinic would be in contact with the other hospitals, specialists and treatment centers.
As would the Park benefit a clinic by excercise programs designed for cardio/core fitness and weight loss.
JEEPs and all vehicles for building welcome.
Where is the nearest cemetry? The unwell need to get to healing faster than the deceased to their burial Idea.
Anything good that will help Treasure Beach and Jamaica welcome-cemetry, clinic etc.Glad Calabash Festival is coming back. Hope it will continue for a long time.Great Lovers Leap is reopened.Should never have closed. Great tourist attraction. Hope the JEEP will drive into Treasure Beach because none has driven there for a while.
There is a well staffed clinic and maternity center in Newell and a clinic in Southfield. Approx 15 minutes drive from TB either way. Whats the dire situation why is one needed in TB?? Just asking?
There is a screaming need for a health clinic in Treasure Beach. If people get sick, they do go outside of Treasure Beach for treatment. That's not convenient, but it's not awful. What is awful is the lack of any preventive medicine. That means the majority of residents do not get screened for diabetes or pre-diabetic conditions. They have no idea if they have high blood pressure unless they find out when being treated for something else. There are no annual check ups like we have in America. There are no annual dental checkups. Instead people go to the dentist when something hurts badly enough that one or more teeth have to be pulled. No cholesterol checks. No PSA checks. Having been associated with the insurance business, the least likely to seek medical treatment are men. This is even when they feel sick. If they feel fine they might not see a doctor for 10 years. What pushes supposedly healthy men to get checkups is women. If there was a clinic there, the women would insist their men stop in for a checkup.
well staffed clinics!hmmm, professionalism lacking.Been there, don't wish to go back.
Yes PNTGMN, prevention being better than cure, locally available health checks and access to appropriate info will help the community as you suggest.
Thanks Rob. Are these clinics used often by the TB community?
Yes NEED, like any org functioning in Ja, there are local challenges. I hope this generation has less of these roadblocks and has the will to face whatever arise.
