This is pathetic. Breds runs a computer lab and they cannot make this diagram so I can read it.

Who writes this stuff? As much as I love Treasure Beach, I would never have thought to call it "exotic." Who is that supposed to attract?

If you are using a Windows OS, hold down the "Ctrl" key and tap the "+" key. Repeat until it is readable
Use "Ctrl" and the "-" key to return to normal print.

All I can say is I hope Breds haven't printed this brochure yet!

It is a poorly thought out document which is not far from being meaningless. For example the title - "Prepare, train and experience Jamaica!" What on earth is this? The whole thing unfocussed.

The text deals only with soccer supported by references to tourism, accomodation and places to visit. There will be many from the local community who will want to develop cricketing, basketball and tennis etc. skills - so why just concentrate on soccer?

This a sports park is it not? For the local community or tourists? For just soccer or is there a commitment to include other popular sports as well?

My advice is to concentrate on the sports facilities. Get these right and then the local individuals and teams will flourish.

Then only tourism can be added on.

The size of the image that BREDS posted is limited by our web site.

We can assume that the actual brochure is larger and will be easy to read.

Why are you people so angry and thoughtless, obviously the brochure was scanned into the system, I am sure if it was sent to your personal computer you would have been able to read it.
Give the man some credit for trying to bring civility to the uncivilised mass of bone pickers. Enjoy the "birds eye view" of the brochure relax yourselves and support the gentleman for his effort.
There, I said it.!!!

For those of you who are complaining, I think this is not the final brochure because I noticed some grammatical errors.

The way I see it this brochure is written to attract outside sports teams to come for matches or stay a week or so for practices. The way I see it this is a moneymaking operation not designed to benefit the people who live in the community. I am glad where I stay for vacations is not close to this park or near the roads going into it. I pity those who live close if this operation takes off the way BREDS wants.

Now that I can finally read this I see the park is being built in stages. Would someone please tell me what facilities are already in. If anyone knows when the next things are being built and maybe when that might happen, I would also like to know that.

Does this mean the road situation has been settled and the homeowners along the private road leading to the sports park are now all satisfied?

Treasure Beach Sports Park - to be ready soon
By Carole Beckford
Published Jan 5, 2012

The newly constructed Treasure Beach Sports Park, due to officially open to the wider region and the world, this Spring 2012, was the venue for a visit from three top soccer coaches out of the USA on Tuesday (January 3).

The coaches who traveled from West Virginia University, Villanova University and FC Delco Club toured the 15 acre facility which will eventually house

Four soccer fields
Three cricket strips
Four tennis courts
Basketball and Netball court
Recreational area with picnic tables and equipment
Bathrooms and changing area
Equipment and Storage facility

The facility is complete with an irrigation system and is staffed from residents of St. Elizabeth led by Project Manager, Jason Henzell, owner/proprietor of Jakes Hotel. The facility currently hosts teams from the community Super League where matches are played on the main field. Henzell has assembled a team of techinical, administrative, marketing and operational professionals. Corporate sponsors are already coming onboard to be a part of this innovative Sport Tourism product, nestled in the south west region of Jamaica.

The Treasure Beach Sports Park is now in phase one of four parts and will be ready to host national/international camps and tournaments as of April 2012.

In addition to the facility, there is a Youth Leadership programme which is also a major part of the operation and will form part of the overall offer to national and international groups who will use the facility.

Aside from the comments that are negative here there are some real questions. I would be grateful if BREDS would skip the negative comments but take the time to respond to the real questions. Posting a brochure and leaving it there for people to figure out might not the best way to promote this facility.

A sports complex without supporting infrastructure, like proper roads, could be a challenge and a hindrance to the wider community. Progress takes time, and BREDS should get some slack, but I hope the impact on the district has been studied.

By the way, I only saw one female in the photo. I hope the fairer sex will be considered in all phases of the complex.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By praying for a good outcome on Thursday, January 12, 2012 - 07:09 pm: Edit Post

We are also awaiting the proper infrastructure. This park could be a wonderful thing for the community or it could be a disaster. The difference is up to Breds because most of the the residents I ask are pretty excited about what is happening. Not saying anything bad about the people, they have never run such an operation and are probably unaware of every little thing that must be done to make the sports park into something that will be beneficial to everyone. If the correct infrastructure is not in place soon enough we could experience problems such as roads that are made worse, residents being inconvenienced by noise and traffic and maybe even crime. If this is done properly it could be a blessing. I pray Breds will sit back long enough to consider all the possible things that could happen and prepare to deal with them IN ADVANCE.

I for one do not want to hear an excuse like they are a volunteer group so no one has the time to do these things. They had the time and energy to get those coaches there from America. They need to put that same effort into protecting the community.

Please BREDS show the community and our visitors and peoples that own homes and villas how good you can be. Do the right thing for all and do not think of your selfs first and then have to make eccuses. Think of us alltogether as one.
