A question about airport drives

I understand it costs about $120 US for a drive from MoBay airport to TB. What if there are three people being picked up? Does each person pay that amount? Or is there a flat rate for the transportation?

How long does it take to travel from Montego Bay to Treasure Beach by way of route taxi?

2to3 glorious, relaxing and scenic hours. Depends on how many times you need to stop to use the bathroom really! I used to think that after I had the long plane flight, the last thing I wanted to do was sit in a car for a few more hours. But turns out, that is one if my most memorable experiences that I( have on any trip to TB.

Route taxis are neither glorious and relaxing and sometimes they are not especially safe. I don't see how they would only take 2 to 3 hours because a van or car takes 2-1/2 to 3 hours and more if you'd like to stop for food, use a restroom or stop at a cambio to change money. Figure you have a suitcase or 2 if you're coming from the airport and don't expect there will be room for them.

We have found the pre-arranged taxi to be an enjoyable ride. To us, its' all part of the vacation experience, the cows, the goats, the countryside and most of all, the people you see along the way. A quick stop along the way for some outstanding jerk pork adds to the experience.

I agree with the above post. Hire a driver, the route taxi is something to take from TB to go shopping, not to take from the airport. I second the jerk stop idea. I found "On The Border" to be the equal to the jerk at Boston Beach, i.e. some of the best in all of Jamaica, along with Scotchies.

For the adventurous traveler on a budget - route taxi can save you a lot of money.

If you are traveling with luggage that needs to be checked in, rather than light traveling with one or two carry-ons, then I would recommend hiring a charter.

Also if you arrive in the evening you would require a charter as route taxi service will not be available.

There are airport taxis available right at the airport. You can bargain with them, not to take away the taxi run from Treasure Beach people.

TBNet: I am confused. I just want to make sure I am not dreaming, did you remove an unfortunate post on this thread? Just say yes, I will understand.

True 'regular traveler', but with those guys you never know what you are getting into. A well referred driver from Treasure Tours or my buddy Ranny are the best, safest way to go.
