I thought the temporary unavailability of the site was heralding the birth of the 'new and improved' site. This was not to be, and this coming is now rivalling the 'second coming of Christ' for the longest wait.

Spooky Dude you are so unappreciative of tbnet. If they had closed it for good you would not have had a space to air your unkindness. [edited by TBNet] And tbnet no need for further apologies. [edited by TBNet]

I suggest you don't update the site. Those of us still using Vic-20s to browse the internets need things to be kept simple.

Appreciative: I can't figure how you came to that conclusion, just amazing! I made the comment because I had forgotten all about the upgrade and it seemed so long ago, and the outage reminded me of it!Touchy, touchy, I meant no harm. I am sure TBNet took it in a good spirit.

There are so many ungrateful people in this world and our little TB has some amongst us.

Spooky Dude, you asked a question why someone thought you were unappreciative.

My opinion is its because you come across as arrogant when you post here. It colours how you are perceived. Not just this time, but the majority of your posts.

I know you may not mean it that way, but that's how its taken by me and others I've talked to who post/read here.

My hope is this is taken as constructive criticism offered by a fellow TB.net fan. I do not want to start another argument. If this offends you, please say so and then drop the subject

I too thought that the site may be down because the n site was being redesigned as said 3 years ago. So I agree with him. Why would TBnet prclaim this new and improved website that is coming and 3 years later it is not done? Eithyer remove the topic or do what was said. I know we are on Jamaica time, but this is the pinacle..

I think Spooky Dude was making a tongue in cheek comment about the upgrade to the webiste, which is STILL on the page, for I think going on 3 yearrs now. If you look at the post in that area, it may say something like 'June 13'. Then you may think, "June, 2011" The answer is no. It is not even 2010. It may be 2009. So he meant no harm, just siting the fact that this site proclamed the new website deisgn that is coming....and they announced that 3 years ago...Give the guy a break.

My opinion: Neither do I but you cant let your preconceived notions affect your judgement. Point out the arrogance in my position and I may agree with you. It may seem like arrogance to you, but arrogance is not part of my make-up. And if it were, there is no way you can accuse me of that in this instance. It does not offend me in the least, I just am against mis-characterisation. Are you the same person as 'unappreciative'? If you are I could accuse you of dishonesty, if you are not why dont you let him reply?
Thanks bob for that voice of reason. Merry Christmas to all!!

I am compelled to add something to what My Opinion said about Spooky Dude.

I had to read another post of yours 3 times to believe you said "Condolences anyway" about the passing of a gentleman in Treasure Beach. You do not need to know someone to give condolences. If that was the best you could say my advice would have been to keep your [edited by TB.Net]fingers off your keyboard.

I was thinking the same thing about Spooky Dude's condolences comment. It may not have been intended that way, but it came off as rude to me. Even if someone does not know the person in question, and that is quite likely on this forum, readers should assume a void is left when someone dies. If people want to ask questions because they do not know the person, that is fine. In my personal opinion it is not to fine to make such a remark.

Wow! Spooky dude can do nothing right for some of you guys/gals! All I was saying was what I think you wanted to hear, based on your comments, condolences even if I dont know to whom I am expressing condolence. How is that rude? I would not like to comment on your lack of understanding, lest you accuse me of arrogance.
WHat you are in fact saying is that I should express condolence to the families of all the people who have lost loved ones in Kingston where I have lived most of my life, whether know them or not, wouldn't that be ridiculous?

Dude: Another voice here. It would have sounded better if you had said:

In spite of the fact I did not know this man, I offer my condolences.

The word "anyway" was not necessary and made you sound less than sincere.

I hope this helps you understand why you sometimes rub people the wrong way even if you are attempting to be nice.

Hey Dudette that is exactly what anyway implied. Your interpretation reflects on your state of mind rather than mine. It is because I don't say things just to be nice why I would like to know who I am sending condolences to. I will give you a true example of insincerity: this lady I know greets everyone she meets with a breezy "hi how are you? good" she never waits for a response, so if you had replied "I am having a terrible headache, as I was in an unfortunate accident" her response would have been the same "Good"! Just in case you think this story is trying to prove a point, the lady in question is an American who used to run Duffs Business College, maybe some of the readers here could verify this anecdote.
Merry Christmas TB Mative!! Sincere condolence to the family of Peck, I know what it is like to lose a loved one and even sincere expression of condolence can seem hallow.

Hey I did not write the response before this one[edited by TB.Net]. I am appreciative of the 'cyber hug', thank you and I hope you received the reciprocal hug. I however am unsure of why you choose me for that 'honour'? Joy and love yes,so let us all give each other a great big cyber hug, even the 'Gringh' who tried to impersonate me.
