My novel, Love's Hurricanes, set in Jamaica, is ready to find an agent and publisher. The advice of an agent who spoke at the Fairfield University Master of Fine Arts program (where I'm a student) was that having a 'platform" will help. (I.e., who thinks anyone wants to read this?)
So at the web page where I tout my Jamaican memoir, NearAFarSea.com, I've posted the first chapters of the novel and an invitation to "tell me when the novel is published". The more folks who like the first pages and tell me they would like to read more, the sooner I can see it in print and you can read the whole thing (which comes to a climax in a hurricane that Treasure Beachers will recognize as Ivan).
I enjoyed reading your first novel. I signed up to know when the second is published.
Near a Far Sea was wonderful. Can't wait for the next one!
For anyone who missed the memoir or passed it up as too expensive, it's now available as a Kindle book at half price. Details at http:/nearafarsea.com.
For Treasure Beach lovers, Mr. Noel's memoir is a must.
Thank you, Don for putting the book on Amazon.com and the $9.99 price for Kindle users. Been watching for a used book on ebay for some time wihtout success. Started reading last night and I'm loving it! We've been going to Jamaica over 20 years and so interesting to read about the places we've been and the special people of Treasure Beach. Won't take long to finish - ha! Any other recommendations?
Dr. Honeyghan's "Father Sleeps with the Mudpies" is quite an experience, not always comfortable, but well written and very real.
Loved the book, Don. Couldn't put it down. So interesting to read about the people and place we love, thank you!
I and about 5 others in my family who have been to this special place, Hikaru, savoured Mr. Noel's Hikaru tales. Now, we're all looking forward to his second novel, Love's Hurricanes. Please advise when it's available.
