Is there a rule in Jamaica about keeping parrots as pets?
There is a rule about the black beek parrots. Mine are the white beek.

@Parrot Question - under the Wildlife Protection Act it is illegal to have in one's possession any native Jamaican bird, including our endangered Amazona sp. parrots, the Black-billed and Yellow-billed parrots, and the Olive-throated parakeets. Exotic species (those not native to Jamaica) are not protected under this Act, but their importation is prohibited due to the risk of Avian influenza, which could devastate wild bird populations.

To Wendy Lee - Does this mean I can legally own the 2 Honduran parrots?
It is not illegal under the Wildlife Protection Act to own exotic (non-Jamaican) parrots. While there is currently a ban on the importation of ALL live birds, and it has been in place since the Bird 'Flu virus began to spread some years ago, I do not know what the policy is with respect to birds that have already been brought into Jamaica and are being kept as pets. I would recommend that that they get a thorough check-up (blood tests, parasite tests) from a Vet and that their wings be kept clipped so they could not ever escape to the wild.
