As I sit here and watch www.weather.com with the live coverage of Hurricane Irene I am thinking of all our family and friends who are being affected by this massive storm. I'm pretty sure each of us has more than one family member and/or friend living in the path of Irene.

We, in Treasure Beach, have had first hand experience too frequently in the last few years of how dangerous and the extent of the impact a storm like this can be/have.

For those of you being affected by Irene please keep us posted as to how you are doing and know many here have you in our thoughts and prayers.

And please stay safe and stay indoors.

Thanks Rebecca for thinking and praying for us, I live in Connecticut and have not witnessed a hurricane before for the thirty something years I have been here; and as you know New Englanders are use to snow and ice not hurricane. Right now we are getting heavy down-pour. It has been predicted that the hurricane will arrive at us in CT at around 2:00 a.m. It has also been reported that 6 people have lost their lives in other States due to this monster Irene. Continue to pray that even now this storm will pass over. As a Pastor I know that God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above what we may ask or think He is in control. Continue to keep us in your prayers. Blessings.

I've heard from Karen and Peter Kennedy in Virginia and they are fine. They still have electricty and phone and are feeling very grateful.

Irene made landfall as a tropical storm in New York City, which fooled a lot of people into thinking we had nothing to worry about. The wind and water damage I saw today on my way to work told a different story. Miraculously, my house, which floods in the lightest rain, had no flooding. Several yard items that people neglected to take in before the storm crashed into our house and yard, however. No serious damage, but pretty scary to hear.

In the end, we got off easy. Our inland neighbors to the north are still suffering quite a bit more than we did in the city, lots of flooding, people stranded and without supplies. My thoughts are with them.

The death toll from Irene is now up to 40. Five million people were still without power yesterday. There are billions of dollars in damage. Crops and homes and businesses and roads have been ruined. This storm was not as big and some had predicted, and I have heard this disappointed some because of all the weather reports warning it was going to be worse, but the results have been horrible and floods are still happening. Let's give thanks it was no worse and pray for all the families who suffered and will continue to suffer.
