From Skywritings Magazine:

ITAL REASONINGS (Runaway Bay, St Ann)
Firewater Springs is a truly unspoilt mystical haven... You'll know you’ve arrived as the Rasta brethren emerge with warm welcomes and greetings. Reportedly discovered around 80 years ago by Granny May, the springs are still relatively untouched.
Granny May worked at Drax Hall Estate and would take a short cut down to the sea. The discovery of its fiery properties came quite by accident. Granny May was trying to burn out a wasp nest from the cotton tree. While engrossed in her efforts, the torch fell into the spring and ignited transforming the healing springs into Firewater Springs.
The cotton tree is gone, but the lush vegetation continues to provide shade while masseurs provide healing treatments at the pool.

The spring is a mix of natural gases and sulfur and purported to have the power to cure cataracts, arthritis, infertility and even cancer.
Hot towel massages and clay mud baths are offered followed by a soak in the spring, which accommodate five to six people at a time. After you exit the water, refuel on ital fare prepared on the very flames that give the springs their names.
