I go with that, there is not an area in TB that is safe for people when they are shooting. STOP bird shooting in TB

I took my tranquilizer this morning as my heart jumps everytime the guns shoot.

So far we have heard nothing. May our Pedro Hills remain free for all birds and the other creatures many of us admire.

Totally agree. If I go home and decide to explore my bushes, I could find myself in danger. Go into the wilds and shoot, there are no wilds in TB!

This link ought to get you to the New Yorker piece about the bird slaughter in Europe.

Some time ago the New Yorker magazine ran a good piece about the bird populations in Europe being wiped out because of hunting - specifically, about Songbirds being slaughtered as "delicacies" to be put on the tabes of the rich. What the piece described was appalling - yet another indication of man's inhumanity to "lesser" creatures over whom they believe they ought to have dominion.

Sounds to me like something similar is going in on TB.

I read the posts above by people who don't feel safe in TB when the hunt is on. That is a concern, to be sure, but I'd like to see more discussion about the morality of killing fellow inhabitants of this earth.

NAL I don't think hunting is a question of morality. If it were, our species would not be around today. I think the point is sustainability which is why there is a season for hunting, with legal limits set per person. The problem seems more like enforcement than anything else.

Gee, I included a link to the New Yorker piece about the bird slaughter in Europe.

Webmaster: was there a problem including that link in my message? I can't imagine a problem, since people often include links in their messages.

Thanks!

NAL. I approved that message myself and found the article very interesting. I don't know why the link didn't show up here. Please resubmit the link.

I think we have to blame this one on cyberspace.

Whoops! So sorry, TBNet. Duh...

That New Yorker piece is eye-popping, and depressing - just another example of we are doing to the other inhabitants - and ultimately - to ourselves - on this planet.

Thanks!
