Thought I would share this article with you letting us know of another disease attacking the reefs.

I do not want to cast blame if none is deserved, but can anyone say if the "sewage problems" have been cleared up that originated from a large facility in Treasure Beach.

Wow this is scary Rebecca, makes me sad reading that article :-( i recently watched a programme about the maldives and how they deal with garbage soo badly-theyve made an island entirely of rubbish floating and polluting the ocean and just getting bigger and bigger-no recycling!why dont they promote people take their empty sun lotion bottles and suchlike home with them.... Made me wonder whats done with rubbish in jamaica? Must be a big problem...
Also i have noticed in various parts of jamaica villas who pump waste straight into the sea :-(

Speaking of trash in the sea, try an internet search of 'pacific ocean trash gyre' or 'great pacific garbage patch.'
I warn you it is disturbing.
Apparently there is 100 million tons of garbage in the pacific ocean, swirling around, about two times the size of the state of Texas.

It saddens me to see trash on the beaches of TB, because it ends up in the sea. I make an effort to pick up the trash I see, but the only solution is education and raising the awareness so people will care about their environment. To often I see locals 'dash weh' rubbish on the ground.

Very interesting article.
As I recall there is a popular attraction on the sea between TB and BR, that, if one chooses to visit, has no restrooms, and encourages visitors to relieve themselves in the ocean.
