I AM FROM THE COMMUNITY OF BILLY'S BAY AND YESTERDAY TO MY SURPRISE I SAW A VILLA OWNER FROM TREASURE BEACH DUMPING CATS IN THE AREA I WAS VERY UPSET. WHY IS IT THESE PEOPLE CANT FIND A PLACE TO DUMP THEIR CATS WHY DOES IT ALWAYS HAVE TO BE BILLY'S BAY? WHEN IT COMES TO DUMPING WE ARE HUMANS JUST LIKE ANYBODY ELSE IT UPSET ME SO MUCH AND SO DOES THE MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY AND IT WASN'T ONE TRIP OF DUMPING CATS I DONT KNOW WHERE THEY GOT SO MANY CATS SERIOUSLY. WHEN I SAW THIS I WAS GOING TO CALL SOME GOVERNMENT AGENCY AND LET THEM DIRECT ME WHO I SHOULD CALL.

When you saw this person dumping the cats you should rush out and confront the person, talk loud so that other persons would hear and come out, you cant stay quiet when someone is dumping cats in your community, that's why it continues.

That is sad. If the villa owner contacted one of the few rescue groups on the island (Montego Bay Animal Haven or Animal House they may have been able to assist. Of course they are always in need of donations as well

Maybe with the support of villa owners strays could be caught and spayed or neutered.

I would call the Jamaica humane society.

The Jamaican Humane Society? If they are as slow as other entities in Jamaica, those kittens will be grandparents by the time anything is done.

The Gremlin strikes again-I know nothing about the JHS, and didn't post previous comment.
I think, long, long ago, when animals like tiefin' puss would be taken out to sea for a long swim home. But now-a-days we have become overly kind to animals and brutal to each other! Irony of ironies! Rats are running wild in most places so someone could train these cats to catch rats, this seems to be a lost art in the animal kingdom. They probably recognise that 'rats have rights' and soon will be able to sue folks like you and me for denying them these rights. This must have been the brainchild of an out of work lawyer! LOL

Spooky Dude has made a good point. We, and the media, make a huge deal of animal cruelty in the United States - perhaps more of a deal than we make about the rampant child abuse in this country.

Similarly, the media were covering the unspeakably tragic drought in Africa (which, if we want to compare, would be like having 100,000 suffering simiarly in this country), but the minute drug addict/celebrithy Amy White--- (whatever her name was) was found dead, the media switched to that "news," which apparently was more newsworthy than the deaths and starvations of thousands and thousands Africans.

Go figure.

Not taking care of our fellow starving human beings is admittedly wrong on nearly every level. Paying more attention to Amy Winehouse or any celebrity for that matter instead of widespread tragedies is shallow and wrong. Not taking care of our animals cannot be justified because people are more important. If you have an animal it is your responsibility to feed it, care for it and spay or neuter it.

If you can identify the villa owner and you are sure of that person's identity, I ask you to post it here. The problem is NOT dumping cats in Billy's Bay. The problem is no one should be dumping animals ANYWHERE. This is a disgusting thing and not the way to be treating God's creatures.

I trust the webmaster will allow that person's identity to be published here.

Animal Lover said: Maybe with the support of villa owners strays could be caught and spayed or neutered.

Everyone has the responsibility to take care of their OWN animals. If a villa owner has an animal it is their own responsibility. If anyone else has an animal it is NOT the responsibility of the villa owners. I am holding back saying something nasty here but every once in a while I see someone writing what the villa owners COULD do or SHOULD do because people assume they have a lot of money. Maybe the residents of Treasure Beach could pay the JPS bills for the villas. I am not being serious and I hope Animal Lover isn't being serious either.

I have seen puppies and kittens dumped or worse in Treasure Beach especially if they happen to be female. This practice makes me cringe. I am also an animal lover but I do not expect anyone else to pay to spay or neuter my dog. That was part of the promise I made when I got him.

Rats are running wild in Billy´s bay, cats may be a good thing , but do not feet them, so they learn to catch their food...hope is the RATS....but on the other hand, too many cats, could be a problem, everyone dumping should be charge for a penalty.....the animals need to be spay...by gathering all the animals in the community, animal control may come and give a better deal....hope so

Heard someone on Perkins show talking about some land in that area needing to be bushed, but the owner will not do it. He says rats, cats, dogs and drug addicts have infested it. May be that's why people are dumping unwanted animals there. The right thing to do don't seem to be working and the Golden Rule has become: 'Who has the gold makes the rule'
Nal you should have a word with this person, that would be the right thing to do.

Spooky:

Gold diggers are not the guides

In a world suffused with sunlight

Soil, rich, black, ready to give birth

Sweet water, Ital food, reasoning for the soul

Air, first breath in; last out

What is not from these?

Gold itself is dug

From the depths

Is that where those rules

Were dragged from?

Later can be greater.

turey, I seem to have awakened you from your slumber, but you are not fully awake! Or are you trying to confuse me and the world?

Sleep is so sweet, none of the stressors of the awake world Spooky. Yea nightmares.

When I've fully awakened, I'll try another approach to my perspective on financial wealth as the director of our lives. Economy divorced from Ecology.

Meantime, the the Bluff breeze is putting me back t.....
