As a fisherman who lives in Treasure Beach and has fished from Frenchman's Beach over the past 17 years, I have taken an initiative to improve the conditions as it relates to lighting on Frenchman's Beach.

Presently, as the beach has no lights, fishermen who are coming in and going to sea during the night have a very difficult time working due to the lack of lights on the beach.

Two months ago a boat was stolen from Frenchman's Beach in the night which may have been avoided if there was proper lighting.

I am hereby trying to seek sponsorship to install 3 lights on the Frenchman's Beach at a total cost of $110,000 JA (material = $50,000, posts = $35,000, labor = $20,000, inspection fee = $5,000).

I would greatly appreciate your support of this initiative.

You can contact me directly at 876-965-3084 or 876-435-3779 or leave a message for me with Rebecca at treasuretours@cwjamaica.com.

Thank You.

If anyone would like to send a donation, please make out a check or money order to Dennis Abrahams and send it to his attention to Calabash Bay P.A., Treasure Beach, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, West Indies.

Thanks for your interest.

If the exchange rate is still about 60J to 1US, it is about 1800.US that needs to be raised. All we need is 72 people donating $25.00 each, surely we can do this. Between the folks like us who love TB and the residents who have friends and family who fish for a living, it seems like a very possible goal.
It should be pointed out as well that the lights would not only benefit the fishermen, it would also be good to have lights on the beach at night for the folks who enjoy walking the beach after dark. Maybe the guesthouses in the area would contribute as well.
P.S.Dennis, I tried calling too...I'll put my email address at the bottom so you can contact me.
And please post your address so others will know where to send their checks...

Dennis, how are the sponsorships coming along? How many commitments do you have? How much more do you need to meet the goal?

I just got off the phone with Dennis and he has raised approximately $40,000 JA so far. If you have sent him a check, please email me to let me know so he can look for it in the mail.

Thanks to all for your support!

What a wonderful way to spend Easter Sunday afternoon! The fishermen from Frenchman's Beach got together to put on a party to help raise funds for the lighting of the beach.

Thanks first to Eggy for giving up the use of his bar for this event. Eggy and Talla were busy serving out the fish tea.

Lucy was kept busy in the bar serving up the cold beers.

Boy P and his posse kept us all dancing by donating his time and equipment and playing great music all afternoon.

Many fishermen entertained us with boat races. One secret weapon was proudly shown by Ferrin who brought it out at the last minute for his brother Be Be to use on his boat.

Who were the winners? Everyone who attended the party.

Special thanks go out to Dennis, Bernard, Talla and Lucy for organizing this successful day.

If you would like to donate to the lights please contact Dennis directly at 876-965-3084 or 876-435-3779 or leave a message for him with Rebecca at treasuretours@cwjamaica.com. We have almost reached our goal. A few of the light posts have been put up and the breaker box has been installed.

Thank You.

I am very pleased to announce that the fund raiser on Sunday raised $32,300 which put us over our goal for the funds needed for the light posts. Sincere thanks to all of you who donated to this cause. I will provide photos of the unveiling of the lights when all is in place.

Positive Vibes!

It is with great pleasure that I can inform you Frenchman's Beach is now lit up! As of June 5, 2004 Frenchman's Beach has 4 lights illuminating the area where the boats are allowing the fishermen to see when they are loading and unloading their boats after dark and providing a more secure area overall.
