WOOOOO, with that money they sure can build a fancy basketball court and TENNIS court all in 1 maybe the road also....suerte Breds Fundation. The town needs it.

thats a hole lot of money.they should use to fix that big damaged spot in the middle of the road infront there place.then do all the courts they want.think about it that would help the community alot too

You say you can't build a tennis court for this. Nuts. Especially when it's for a charity and the vendors should be giving big price breaks on materials and construction.

Here we go again more complain.

Here I am enjoying a nice Sunday and I decide to go to this site to see what's happening in Treasure Beach. I will still have a nice Sunday, but it is not because of what I am reading here.

I want to first say I am not a BREDS supporter. I did not like what they had planned for the Sports Park with their big stadium, and I am indebted to all those who had the guts to complain on this site. Maybe that got BREDS to cut back its plans. Maybe they couldn't come up with enough money. I don't know. I don't care.

I now find myself supporting them on this tennis court matter. There are some silly postings made here and I can understand why that makes BREDS not want to post much here. To the person that decided it was one and a half million US dollars, [edited by TB.Net]. That person apologized [edited by TB.Net]. Then there are the people who have decided it would be better if BREDS used that money to fix the roads. It is not BREDS job to fix the roads. It is the government's job to fix the roads.

If you pay your taxes then you should complain to your MP and not to BREDS. If you don't pay your taxes I think you don't even have a right to complain and should keep your mouth shut.

BREDS gets money to do specific things. I am guessing the tennis court money was given to them by the Canadian tennis player to built a tennis court and not to fix the roads.

The same way BREDS gets money for things, Treasure Beach Foundation gets donations for the scholarships. Maybe you think they should spend their money on fixing the roads. But when I contribute money to them it is for the students and not for the roads or the canal or to eradicate mosquitoes.

I am not putting my name here because I saw the heat Mrs. Kennedy got when she had the guts to post her name in being opposed to a gigantic Sports Park. I applaud her for what she did to state her position but I do not want to have people say things about me behind my back when they accept my contributions to my face. [edited by TB.Net]
If you do not like how BREDS spends their money or how Treasure Beach Foundation spends their money, do not contribute to them. Start your own foundation.

BREDS GOT THE 1.5 MILLION JAMAICAN DOLLARS FROM BNS BANK TO HELP WITH THE BASKETBALL COURT AND IT TAKES 3MILLION TO BUILD THAT COURT SO THATS A BIG START.

Blessings to 'Really annoyed big time.' Bless you to 'stop.' These are charities with unpaid people running them. Take out all your frustrations on the government. They deserve it.

FYI - the money to build the tennis court has been raised independently of this 1.5 mil donation. The Yellowbird Foundation has donated some of it and the generous contribution of villa owners who enjoy the sport have made up the rest.

I will be the first to say publicly and with my name that I was not a fan of the original plan for the Sports Park or as it was called then - the Sports Stadium. However, my opinion has changed as has the original concept itself changed. Of course, I still have concerns and questions as we all should and we should not be afraid to address them.

As it stands now, the Sports Park has my support and quite honestly the support of the majority of the community.

Thank you for clarifying what happened Miss Todd. It is annoying to read rumours. It is also annoying for people to tell NGOs how they should spend their money. I agree with others on this site who suggest if the roads need fixing they should not be complaining to the charities. I also agree with those who are wrongly waiting for people to help them out if the canal causes flooding when they failed to hold demonstrations and TO HOLD THEIR OWN GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTABLE.

Tennis courts are great. looking forward to coaching there.
