We are happy to report the Health Fair was a great success . . . the best yet!! In the past our record number of patients seen was 180. Last week the doctors saw 253 patients representing several communities within South St. Elizabeth!! They've calculated $250,000 US worth of medical services was provided at this 4 day clinic.

There was a team of 20 medical professionals in all including two general practitioners, a gynocologist and an ear, nose and throat specialist. One physician present recieved the prestigious Physician of the Year award for Florida this year. Another will soon be taking the position of President of the Hillsborough County Osteopathic Medical Society of Florida. In addition, we would like to thank Dr. Brown whose office is located at Crossroads for working side by side with the medical team each day.

This was the 5th clinic held in association with Hillsborough County Osteopathic Medical Society of Florida and we cannot thank them enough! As they come each year they are seeing many of the same patients and are able to follow-up with long term medical care.

We would also like to thank the Pedro Plains Diabetic Association of Jamaica for hosting the clinic in their building located in Pedro Plains, Taino Cove for providing discounted accommodations, Oliver's Dutch Pot for providing delicious discounted lunches every day, and Treasure Tours for providing discounted transportation and Pedro Cross Pharmacy for their excellent support and advice which was utilized often and repeatedly.

The Treasure Beach Women's Group is very proud to be working with such a prestigious group of professionals as Doctor Webster and the Hillsborough County Osteopathic Medical Society of Florida and we look forward to working with them again and again!

You can view photos of the clinic here or by the link in the Photo Gallery.

At the end of each clinic Dr. Webster shares his thoughts on the week by writng a poem and sharing it with us at the Farewell Dinner held at Taino Cove on that Friday night.

The Jamacian Clinic With An International Flair

This year’s clinic was special indeed,
As it brought to us an international flair.
There were six countries represented in our group,
With people who showed how much they cared.

Armenia, Greece, Israel were represented here,
With the Philipines, Russia and the USA too.
A wonderful cultural experience it was,
One we’ll not forget whatever we do.

It was great to see everyone work together,
Bringing peace and understanding to each other.
They shared their medical skills and so much more,
And truly came to love one another.

The Jamaican Clinic brought them together,
A medical team with a purpose.
To provide medical care to people in need,
As each volunteered to provide their special service.

So here’s a tribute to this great team,
What a wonderful service they provided.
And the 253 people they treated,
Showed each one how much they were appreciated.

Ken Webster
July, 2011

This Farewell Dinner included performances by the Treasure Girls Group and the JCDC silver award winning Shane Brothers who both wanted to show their appreciation to the doctors for their volunteer efforts during the week.
