The 4th Annual TB Jazz Festival was held on Saturday night. The crowd was a bit disappointing, but that was the only disappointment of the night. The entertainment was top notch from the first act to the last! Once again, Christine Marrett and The Two Seasons Guest House did a fabulous job of hosting this wonderful event.

Thank you to the co-sponsors of Jakes, Treasure Beach Hotel and Sunset Resort.

At one point in the night the smoke from the jerk was wafting over the stage. I was put in mind of sitting at a small smoke filled jazz club back in the day feeling really fortunate to be there listening to such quality music in such a small venue. I then looked up in the sky to see the beautiful moon rising, feeling the gentle breeze and decided this is even better to be sitting outside under the moonlight a short walk from home listening to great jazz!

The night started with our own Shane Brothers warming up the crowd and the audience demanding an encore. Then Sharon Martini came on the stage heating up the crowd with some old Jazz favorites.

We were then treated to the music of The Jamvybzs All Star Band with Bobby G who got us all dancing in our seats and singing along as he performed some great original songs as well as a medley of Bob Marley and Beres Hammond songs. Then, a performer (I cannot remember her name) came up and treated us to a sing-a-long of Scat in addition to performing some other great original songs. What a voice!

Then Mark the Ark Stevens took the stage and dazzled the crowd with his fast moves on the violin and when I say fast, you could not see any more than a blur of his fingers. Mark played reggae to jazz and was pure entertainment.

During the break The Shane Brothers took the stage one more time to everyone's delight.

After the break it was the deep and solid jazz of Dr. Karen Brown and friends playing some original pieces as renditions of old favorites like the theme from "The Flinstones".

Ginetta certainly came onto the stage with a vendetta as the sound was not quite to her liking. Once that was straightened out and she settled in to her music she gave a good performance.

Unfortunately, the time was getting way past my bedtime so I had to leave. I was very sad to do this as I've heard Karen Smith perform before and she is fabulous. But alas, I just couldn't stay awake any longer.

Again, it was a wonderful night of quality entertainment and I look forward to next year!!

Dear Rebecca
Nuff thanks for the report and the pics. One correction, this was the third time that Two Seasons Guest House was hosting Jazz (June 2009, 2010 and now 2011). We did have another show "Treasure the music", with Noddy Virtue in Dec 2009.

The person scatting was Pam Hall.

Warm regards

Christine
